As the Manager BI Analytics – Tableau Lead, you will be responsible for providing data-driven insights that identify and diagnose specific execution opportunities in both the field and corporate office. You will have high visibility to Club Operations leadership, including the EVP and SVPs of Operations and will collaborate with business stakeholders at all levels across the organization. This role requires an excellent collaborator, communicator, and analyst with extensive hands-on data experience. The successful candidate is a problem solver in a fast-moving and highly diverse environment, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring accuracy and timeliness are not compromised. In addition to strong data mining and analytical skills, this individual will serve as the team’s Tableau subject matter expert, driving best practices in visualization and enabling scalable, high-quality dashboards. The ideal candidate is adept at translating complex data into actionable insights and communicating findings to senior leadership and business stakeholders through clear storytelling, KPIs, and meaningful metrics.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-impact Tableau dashboards and data visualizations aligned with business KPIs and user needs.
  • Serve as the team’s Tableau expert, providing hands-on support for complex dashboard development, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Mentor and develop the team’s Tableau developers, including offshore resources, through design reviews, code reviews, and technical coaching.
  • Partner with the Tableau COE to promote enterprise standards for dashboard design, BI governance, and best practices.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries and leverage Databricks and other data sources to support efficient and reliable analytics.
  • Build in-depth knowledge of BJ’s strategic priorities, club execution capabilities, and operational processes; establish strong relationships with senior leaders in Operations and other SMEs in the home office and field.
  • Deliver data-driven insights that identify and diagnose execution opportunities across Field Operations and corporate functions.
  • Work closely with and effectively communicate with key business stakeholders across Operations, IT, Finance, Marketing, Pricing and Site Development to continuously improve the internal and external processes and tools to include reporting and user Dashboards.
  • Analyze large-scale operational, financial, customer, and product-level data to identify opportunities to improve sales, margin, and operational efficiency.
  • Take the lead on complex business problems by identifying key questions, forming hypotheses, determining the appropriate analytical approach, and delivering actionable insights that drive improved performance.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across Operations, IT, Finance, Marketing, Pricing, and Site Development to continuously improve processes, tools, and BI capabilities.
  • Prepare and present analysis, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership and business stakeholders in both verbal and presentation formats using clear, compelling storytelling and meaningful KPIs.
  • Contribute to data strategy and governance efforts by partnering with IT and Data Engineering to ensure alignment with the Enterprise Data Warehouse (Databricks), including data quality, structure, and usability for analytics.
  • Support the ongoing development and adoption of standardized KPIs, certified data sources, and reusable analytics assets across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced to expert-level experience in Tableau, including dashboard development, data visualization best practices, and performance optimization.
  • Additional experience with data preparation and transformation tools such as Alteryx, Python, or Tableau Prep preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and data analysis. Experience working with large-scale data platforms such as Databricks a plus.
  • 6–8 years of analytics, business intelligence, or reporting experience, preferably in a retail environment with an understanding of key financial metrics and sales drivers (gross sales, net sales, margin, waste, profit).
  • BA/BS in Finance, Statistics, Economics, Business, or other related quantitative field. MBA or Master’s degree with focus on analytics preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including advanced functions/macros) and PowerPoint.
  • Proactive, self-motivated work style with proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and critical thinking skills, with a bias toward data-driven decision making and the ability to break down complex problems into actionable plans.
  • Strong project management, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to persuasively communicate insights and recommendations to senior leadership.

This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days.

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is $130,500.00 - $161,750.00
