What is the Opportunity?
In this role as a key member of the global Wholesale Financial Resource Advisory team the successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert for the Wholesale businesses (Capital Markets and Treasury Services), supporting and participating in projects related to the Funding and Liquidity (F&L) for Capital Markets’ (CM) businesses, while enhancing reporting capabilities for financial resource reporting and optimization across the platform for the consumption of CM Senior Management.
Act as a liaison and a subject matter expert for CM F&L between Wholesale businesses and (1) Corporate Treasury and (2) Wholesale Business Finance Advisory in supporting proposals to optimize sources and uses of funding while enhancing application of F&L methodology and operational process’.
What you will do?
- Support the implementation of initiatives to enhance accuracy and allocation of funding and liquidity sources and uses for Capital Markets businesses in accordance with enterprise methodologies, as well as providing transparency over F&L charges to relevant stakeholders.
- Implement and enhance allocation mechanisms for CM's FTP costs to support the alignment of funding and liquidity costs with asset profile requirements.
- Assist in the optimization of new technology and information systems updates to improve process and system efficiency including data improvement initiatives.
- Support end to end reporting production cycles for F&L reporting and the design and build of new data and analytical outputs.
- Be a key member of the design and implementation of enhanced analytical tools and views for CM’s F&L consumption to support the optimization of overall resources
- Improve the process’, controls and calculations across the F&L production from data infrastructure, model calculation to analytical output
- Forecast and analyze funds transfer pricing costs for CM businesses based on forecasted balance sheet usage and advise relevant stakeholders while offering strategic insight on optimizing financial resource deployment.
- Establishing effective business tools to assist business in understanding sources and uses of F&L to better price transactions to revenue targets and/or return hurdles.
- Support CM teams as well as various enterprise groups by providing information and fulfilling processes as required related to financial resources optimization.
- Get involved with various projects as required and support the management of financial resources across the Wholesale Financial Resource Advisory team, including RWA, Leverage, Capital, Balance Sheet, Funding and Liquidity.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics or another quantitative discipline.
- CA-CPA or CFA designation holder, other accounting or finance designation, FRM, MBA or equivalent related designation preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in Treasury, FTP, Capital Markets, ALM or Financial/Management reporting
- Strong knowledge of FTP concepts including liquidity premiums, cost of funds, and balance sheet mechanics (loans, deposits, derivatives, securities, wholesale funding).
- Ability to work independently and manage numerous priorities simultaneously
- High proficiency of Excel, attention to details with strong documentation skills.
- Strong desire to own end to end reporting production cycles
Nice-to-have
- Exposure to Capital Markets and understanding of RBC CM business
- Solid knowledge of asset liquidity profile and funding requirements for major product and asset classes within capital markets
- Knowledge of RBC financial systems (e.g. EPM) and associated procedures
- VBA, Power BI, Tableau or other visualization/automation skills.
