[What the role is]

The Singapore Food Agency's mission is to ensure and secure a supply of safe food for Singapore.
The Digital Technology & Transformation Division (DTT) drives SFA's digital transformation through the masterplanning and development of data-driven digital systems and organisational digital capabilities, while ensuring resilience against evolving cyberthreats through clear policies, strong governance, and proactive digital risk management.
The candidate will work in the Data Governance and Transformation Department (DGT) under DTT, which aims to transform SFA into a data-driven organisation through establishing clear data policy and governance, developing data standards, and uplifting data competencies. Develops enterprise data platform, building visualisation dashboard and analytical tools to accelerate data exploitation.

[What you will be working on]

You will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team strengthening data governance practices, with a focus on data quality, data integration, and responsible data use. The role involves working with data stewards and stakeholders to provide guidance and help to turn governance requirements into practical outcomes.

Data Governance Policy Development and Regulatory Compliance

  • Support the review and application of SFA’s data governance policies and standards in line with Whole‑of‑Government (WOG) requirements
  • Provide advisory support on data governance and data quality matters
  • Support compliance monitoring activities, audits, and governance-related reviews

Stakeholder Management and Communication

  • Work with data owners, data stewards, system owners, and cross‑functional teams to support consistent data governance and data quality practices
  • Provide guidance on governance roles, responsibilities, and expectations
  • Communicate data governance and data quality concepts clearly and pragmatically to non‑technical stakeholders

Data Governance in Practice Across Data Infrastructures and Systems

  • Support the application of data governance and data quality requirements within enterprise systems
  • Provide input on governance considerations for enterprise data platform design to ensure alignment with approved policies and WOG requirements
  • Work with technical teams to support consistent implementation of agreed data governance and data quality expectations

Data Integration and Optimisation

  • Develop and implement data governance practices to strengthen data quality, data integration, and responsible data use
  • Support efforts to embed data quality controls into source systems, and downstream data use
  • Contribute to initiatives to improve the usefulness and reliability of data used for operations, reporting, analytics, and decision‑making

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

  • Support reviews of data governance policies and data quality practices, and suggest practical improvements
  • Adapt to different types of work, including policy support, advisory tasks, and implementation-related coordination
  • Support capability development and culture‑building efforts to promote good data governance and accountability practices across SFA

Candidates should have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
  • 3 years’ relevant experience or exposure to data governance, data management (including data quality, data ownership, data definitions, access controls, and data protection requirements), data engineering, data security, or related roles
  • Some experience or exposure to data management, metadata, data quality or data catalogue tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Azure Data Catalogue) in a work setting
  • Familiarity with Whole‑of‑Government data governance requirements (e.g. IM8) is an advantage
  • Able to explain data governance and data quality concepts clearly to different audiences
  • Comfortable working with both non‑technical and technical stakeholders, and switching between these contexts
  • Good analytical, communication, and teamwork skills, with a willingness to learn and grow
