Job Description
The Test Engineering Manager is considered a testing expert and should be familiar with processes and systems supporting Product Development and Functional testing of products in a high-volume outsourced model. The Test Engineering Manager should have a solid foundation in PCIe Protocol and Products, Testing Strategy, influencing and impacting Broadcom’s business needs. The Test Engineering Manager will be responsible for day-to-day management of a team of Functional Test Engineers, and be comfortable in working with, and collaborating, with US based Product, Fimware and Test Development teams.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Drive manufacturing excellence and ensure the highest quality standards across our products
- Become a Broadcom Test and manufacturing expert
- First point of contact for all sustaining product, process and quality concerns regarding Testing of Board products
- Manage In Circuit Test (ICT) and Final Functional test activities at CM sites
- Own product test coverage, test flow, and test limits from handoff after test development through mass production to End-of-Life
- Coordinate between design/R&D, product engineering, manufacturing, and CM teams to support sustaining product updates
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI), including correlation, validation, and production ramp-up on a as-needed basis
- Monitor test yield, DPPM, and quality metrics; drive yield improvement and cost reduction initiatives
- Lead failure analysis and root cause investigation for test escapes, yield loss, and customer returns
- Support engineering change orders (ECO), test revisions, and product transfers
- Ensure test hardware and processes meet reliability, cost, quality, and schedule target requirements
- Requirements / Qualifications
- Proven experience managing a group and/or team
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related discipline
- Experience in test/product engineering or manufacturing test
- Solid knowledge of test hardware design
- Strong understanding of final test processes
- Experience working with CMs and high-volume manufacturing environments
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills
- Preferred Skills
- Experience with Linux based test platforms
- Knowledge of PCIe, and high-speed digital/analog IO
- Experience in yield analysis, test data mining
- Familiarity with NPI, product qualification, and mass production release
- Lead /facilitate cross-functional RCCA meetings, including Risk and Technical Assessments
- Define and lead cost reduction initiatives supporting annual operating plan
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years experience in Test Engineering function
- Minimum 3+ years in an employee managing role
- BS in Engineering, MBA or MS preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of PCIe products
- Expertise in PCBA manufacturing, system integration & test, and field return repair processes & tools
- Well versed in SKU and BOM lifecycle management tools, such as PLMC
- Demonstrated experience in collaborating with design engineering and contract manufacturing on product development, engineering/manufacturing specifications, and sustaining Production
- Demonstrated background in manufacturing outsourcing and fulfillment
- Experienced in Test Flows for Functional Testing of Products
- Utilize quality metrics in developing, monitoring, and improving operational objectives
- Demonstrated experience with business communication, can effectively communicate with business, technical and operational teams
- Ability to analyze and make critical decisions with minimum data
- Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously
