REQ13702 Manager, Artistic (Open)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Manager, Artistic plays a key role in supporting the artistic vision and operational needs of the Cast and Artistic departments. This role involves coordinating various artistic activities, supporting interdepartmental communication, and ensuring smooth operations within the artistic division.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support Leadership: Assist the General Stage Manager in managing daily operations of the artistic division.
- Collaboration: Work alongside Coaching and Stage Management in generating the daily lineup.
- Coordination: Coordinate with Heads of Department (HODs) for artist integration, replacements, and backups, ensuring redundancy in all show roles and positions.
- Artist Understudy: Learn the choreography, movements and stage directions for a Character role or a House Troupe role. Be prepared to perform on stage as an Artist, to cover the Character role or House Troupe role, if the production requires.
- Communication with HR: Ensure timely communication with HR regarding artist status, including new hires, reintegrations, and absences.
- Rehearsals and Training: Oversee rehearsals and training sessions, taking the leadership position when required to maintain the choreography in line with the original creation intention.
- Rotation Management: Manage rotations and contingencies, remaining actively involved in their successful delivery.
- Performance Evaluation: Assist in planning and executing performance evaluations for Artists and Artistic team members.
- Workshop and Initiative Management: Manage the organization and support of workshops, guest coaches, and exchange initiatives.
- Marketing Coordination: Coordinate marketing and promotional activities as directed by the Artistic Director.
- Leave Management: Handle leave requests and their implications on show operations.
- Representation: Act on behalf of the Artistic Director during periods of absence.
- Safety Oversight: Assist HODs in maintaining a safe working environment through effective communication with all departments.
- Incident Reporting: Collate incident and injury data for review by the Artistic Director.
- Documentation Maintenance: Maintain the Show Bible and archiving of show recordings.
- Policy Communication: Support the daily management of Artistic team members, including the communication of company policies.
- Show Scheduling: Provide input on show scheduling and artistic representations outside the theatre.
- Casting Consultation: Consult on casting needs for replacements or modifications in the show.
- Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality and trust regarding all procedures and management operations.
- Cost Awareness: Be aware of cost impacts related to actions within the Artistic Department and signal potential conflicts.
- Motivation and Morale: Foster a climate of personal motivation among Artists and Artistic team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience
- At least 5 years of performance experience in a high level professional context; notably in Dance and other forms of Physical performance
- Substantial experience in a professional live performance environment
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts, Theatre Management, or related field is preferred
