Manager, Accounting and Business Support

Reporting to the Director of GA Investment Accounting, the Manager, Accounting and Business Support plays a key role in advancing the optimization, scalability, and effectiveness of GA investment accounting operations. This role is primarily accountable for leading strategic initiatives, driving continuous process improvement, enhancing data quality, and strengthening controls across investment accounting workflows.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver strategic initiatives within GA Investment Accounting & Business Support team, including end‑to‑end process redesign, operating model enhancements, and optimization of accounting workflows to improve efficiency, scalability, and control.

  • Evaluate existing investment accounting processes to identify risks, gaps, and opportunities for standardization, automation, and operational improvement.

  • Design, implement, and maintain investment accounting processes, controls, and procedures in alignment with accounting standards, SOX requirements, regulatory expectations, and audit best practices.

  • Review and analyze financial results, investigate variances and anomalies, and provide insights to support management decision‑making and risk management.

  • Champion data governance and quality standards, including reconciliation practices and reporting consistency, to support reliable financial and regulatory reporting.

  • Support the preparation and ongoing enhancement of management and regulatory reporting, with a focus on sustainability, accuracy, and efficiency.

  • Represent GA Investment Accounting & Business Support team in cross‑department forums, working groups, and project governance structures.

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and innovation across GA Investment Accounting & Business Support team.

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field. CPA designation is an asset.

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in investment accounting, financial reporting, or related disciplines.

  • Strong knowledge of investment accounting principles, financial controls, and period‑end close processes.

  • Demonstrated experience leading process improvement initiatives or cross‑functional projects.

  • Proven ability to analyze complex processes, identify root causes, and design practical, sustainable solutions.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across functions and levels.

  • Highly organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple initiatives concurrently in a dynamic environment.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec.

  • Proven experience leading process improvements, optimizing workflows, or implementing new technologies.

  • Experience with investment accounting systems, general ledgers, and automation platforms.

  • Experience using Microsoft Power BI and Power Automate to support reporting, automation, and process improvements.

  • Familiarity with SOX control requirements, as well as internal and external audit processes.

Salary range is expected to be between

$88,800.00 CAD - $138,800.00 CAD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
