The Collateral Manager manages a team of ABL Collateral Analysts as well as serving as backup to the Director of Loan Servicing. Review and post BBC and supporting documentation to Stucky for complex clients along with reconciling collateral, loan, and availability while processing any advances or paydowns. The Manager is responsible for the training, development, and mentoring of Collateral Analysts.The Collateral Manager manages a team of ABL Collateral Analysts as well as serving as backup to the Director of Loan Servicing. Key responsibilities for the role:
20% Provide oversight and direction to colleagues in the ABL Operations team by empowering colleagues to independently complete work with a high level of accuracy. Develop employee improvement plans and own the new hire onboarding process to ensure quality of work. Maintain colleague work schedules including rotating team assignments, training, and PTO coverage. Develop and maintain productivity metrics to ensure colleagues are able to execute work and balance overall workload.
20% Manage, train, equip, and develop the CAs’s ability to provide exceptional customer service; ensure operational excellence by maintaining accuracy, internal controls, compliance, communication and teamwork. Meet with direct reports bi-weekly to provide career development opportunities and recommend LinkedIn learning classes to fortify colleague skillset. Be available for questions and escalate as needed to the Director.
10% Serve as a backup CA and perform quality control review of prior work completed in order to track colleague performance. Review/analyze BBC and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness; update collateral related information in collateral monitoring system; reconcile collateral, loans, and unapplied and in-transit cash, as well as excess availability between collateral monitoring system and BBC; ensure accuracy of AR Wizard template; identify and resolve cross training or knowledge gaps with assigned CAs.
10% Leverage technology and operations experience to diagnose operational issues and assist Directors with the development of process improvements by providing solutions, action plans and communications required to resolve these issues.
10% Seek to improve the performance of Specialty Finance in the areas of processes, quality of work, client service, operational excellence, technology advancement, and overall execution.
5% Assist Portfolio Managers and Relationship Managers with monitoring of ongoing portfolio risk exposure by providing recommendations, identifying trends, escalating suspicious/ inconsistent activities, reporting exceptions, material variances, and overdraft/ over-advance issues on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
5% Perform end of day procedures and diligently monitor GL activity as fed through the GL Recap Reports; monthly principal reductions and interest amortizations; process client serving guides; complete collateral and loan set up, as well as loan modifications, fees, and payoffs in collateral monitoring system.
15% Serve as a back up to the Director. This includes end of month procedures, Loan Trial Balance reporting, Book Balance reporting, Non-Accrual and accounting methodologies, Shared Income reporting, internal and external audit requests, and refining policies and procedures if needed.
5% Attend monthly team portfolio meeting and address questions related to collateral and reporting
Key skills/experience qualifications for the role:
1. Five years of analysis experience in Specialty Finance is strongly preferred.
2. Comprehensive understanding of ABL including collateral monitoring, risk mitigation, loan, and treasury is required.
3. Must have strong MS Excel computer skills, especially in the area of databases and spreadsheet report preparation.
4. Must have thorough knowledge of Windows Office software.
5. Bachelor’s degree. A concentration in Finance or Accounting is preferred.
6. AR Wizard, ABLM.net, and SNL system knowledge is preferred. Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures.
The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000.00 to $100,000.00 USD annually. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
