Job Summary: This position is in the Office of International Coordination (OIC). OIC coordinates international activities within FSIS and is the agency point of contact for foreign and U.S. federal agencies for those activities. It ensures FSIS's international and domestic policies are coordinated and consistent with international trade agreements, and collaborates with technical staff to it ensures FSIS policies and procedures are communicated to foreign countries.
Major Duties:
Qualifications: Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. Time in grade: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade (e.g. one year at the GS-7 grade level for consideration for the GS-9 grade level). GS-9 Grade Level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-7 level) that demonstrates: Experience in working on multiple projects with different deadlines and reporting updates to management and/or supervisors; has experience in working on written reports related to food safety or international public health; experience in organizing, coordinating and/or planning virtual meetings or presentations related to food safety or international public health. Experience assisting with organizing projects related to food safety or international public health. GS-11 Grade Level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-9 level) that demonstrates: Experience working multiple projects with short deadlines and reporting updates to management and/or supervisors; has experience in organizing and writing reports and/or findings related to food safety or international public health; experience in organizing, coordinating, and presenting information at virtual meetings and/or presentations related to food safety or international public health. Experience assisting with organizing projects, associated data, and technical engagements and operations related to food safety or international public health. GS-12 Grade Level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-11 level) that demonstrates: Experience working multiple projects with short deadlines and with different deadlines and reporting updates to management and/or supervisors, and ensuring deadlines are met; experience in organizing, writing and reviewing reports, briefing papers and/or findings related to international food safety or international public health; experience in organizing, coordinating and preparing information for presentations at virtual meetings and/or presentations related to international food safety or international public health. Experience assisting with organizing projects, associated data, and technical engagements and operations related to international food safety or international public health. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
