The Management Accounting Transformation Lead will be working in the Management Accounting and Advice team within Group Finance at the ING Bank head office level. The team fulfils a ‘lighthouse’ function within the Finance domain and plays an important role in providing advice to the Management Board Banking, setting financial targets for ING Bank and supporting the strategic direction while at the same time setting the standards and controls for all MA-related activities within ING. As such, the team has a strong and multi-disciplinary network of both internal and external stakeholders.
Management Accounting Transformation Lead will be the ultimately responsible for improving management accounting products and processes (end-to-end) across the bank and act as linking pin across multiple stakeholders (finance teams, service organizations etc..) among others ensuring reliable, solid, auditable, traceable and consistent Managemsuent Accounting information and processes through simplification, automation and (where necessary) process changes in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
Purpose - Ensure the successful delivery of management accounting-driven transformation to unlock the potential of the Management Accounting function within ING and enable it to become a true Business Partner.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for improving management accounting products and processes across ING (end-to-end ownership):
- Lead management accounting‑initiated projects end‑to‑end, including scoping, roadmap creation, resource planning, risk management, and implementation.
- Define project roadmaps and manage prioritised backlogs aligned with strategic finance initiatives.
- Act as the “single point of truth” for finance requirements in all technology‑related initiatives.
- Co‑define project plans and prioritisation based on business value, management demand, regulatory needs, and capacity constraints.
- Facilitate alignment between Finance leadership, COOF, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
- Ensure that project plans are realistic, considering finance timelines, reporting cycles, compliance obligations, and resource limitations.
- Validate that the proposed Tribe solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned with finance control standards and management needs.
- Ensure flexibility to prioritise items that require automation: if the requirement comes from a regulation/ if the requirement is not possible to deliver through Excel solutions / if the requirement is complex and subject to error in manual preparation
- Drive a culture of accountability, collaboration, and delivery excellence.
Skills required
- Comprehensive understanding of management accounting processes in ING Group, upstream/downstream dependencies, regulatory constraints, management demand and data flows.
- Understanding ING organisation and stakeholder needs
- Ability to effectively promote the standardisation and simplification agenda, while understanding specific stakeholder needs and considerations
- Strong analytical skills: able to understand complex matters quickly
- Excellent communicator: explains complex matters in a simple and efficient way
- All-round knowledge of Finance processes and banking industry concepts
- Pro-active attitude and takes ownership of responsibilities
- Flexible and pragmatic: capable of delivering in a changing environment
- Accurate: quality of work should match the high standards of our stakeholders
- Fluent speaking and writing skills in English
- Excellent MS Excel and MS PowerPoint skills
