POSITION SUMMARY:

Facilities Technician 2 will provide support in all aspects of the facilities maintenance efforts at the Raleigh, NC plant. Work safely and with quality to ensure an environment that meets the production and environmental needs of all employees at this site. This position will provide support to all departments, interact with vendors, contractors, and other personnel in a professional manner. Be a team player with all departments.

The Tech II position will support the professional development of junior personnel by providing training on equipment and processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain and repair Facilities equipment, including but not limited to, Fire Detection and Protection, Boilers, City Water, Water Purification systems, Water For Injection, Clean Steam, Air systems, and HVAC/Chillers.
  • Perform general facility repairs (Lighting, Doors, Card reader, Security, Fire system)
  • Write preventive maintenance job plans and perform preventive maintenance on equipment and systems
  • Work with Manager to use and administer Computerized Maintenance Management Software Maintain Maintenance and Utility area cleanliness
  • Execute small projects independently, when requested
  • Available for 24 hr. call in when requested and meet attendance requirements for the job
  • Understand and assist in implementing safety procedures and cGMP’s
  • Understand and execute demonstrated aseptic behaviors and techniques to include Aseptic gowning
  • Assist other departments and perform other duties as specified by the Maintenance Manager
  • Operate, maintain, and repair plant utility systems, including but not limited to boilers, compressed air, pumping systems, chillers, HVAC units, hot water system, clean steam generators, PW pretreatment system, WFI stills, wastewater systems, vacuum system, emergency power system
  • Interact with contractors, vendors and OEM techs as needed to complete PMs and repairs

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Follow established SOPs and documentation procedures
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Minimum three (3) years maintenance experience in facilities, utilities, electrical, HVAC, industrial equipment, or controls required
  • Minimum one (1) year of cGMP maintenance experience with broad knowledge of facilities, clean utilities, HVAC, industrial equipment, and controls in a pharmaceutical operation required
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and PLC logic
  • Physical requirements include ability to lift 50lb, have excellent balance and pass aseptic gowning qualification
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical or controls systems aptitude and knowledge
  • Basic level electrical system knowledge and experience- such as, diagnosing motor or breaker issues, electrical equipment replacement, troubleshooting
  • Ability to apply analytical reasoning and root cause analysis to solve problems (Tier 2, 3)
  • Strong math and science skills and the ability to use a computer
  • Demonstrated ability to read, understand, interpret and apply technical writing and instructions (Tier 2, 3)
  • Accurate attention to detail, and a strong understanding of pharmaceutical production
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with knowledge of cGMPs, and the ability to

follow good documentation practices

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE

  • Ability to frequently lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Capability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks like bending and twisting.
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors, in various weather conditions.
