The primary purpose of this position is: to perform minor facility repair and maintenance for interior/exterior facilities, general landscape maintenance including sprinkler repairs, general plumbing repairs and installation. Security escort as necessary ensuring contractor, base maintenance personnel, and/or visitors are escorted to work areas. Responsible for maintaining HAZMAT inventory and storage.

Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4700 General Maintenance And Operations Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is Ability To Do The Work Of an Maintenance Mechanic Without More Than Normal Supervision JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge basic maintenance work and practices, shop mathematics and ability to plan, compute and lay out projects without more than normal supervision. 2. Knowledge of technical practices, tools and equipment related to custodial and painting work. Knowledge of basic carpentry woodwork and drywall repair and systems furniture assembly. 3. Knowledge of technical practices, tools and equipment related to plumbing work. 4. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures; and regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation. 5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and be able to build working relationships and to work with mechanics, plumbers, electricians and HVAC Technicians to monitor, trend, diagnose, and resolve -specific problems. 6. Ability to safely operate and maintain motor vehicles Conditions of Employment cont'd: 1. Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. 2. Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. 3. The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments. 4. Knowledge of security procedures and protection of classified information. 5. Employee should have the ability to lift to 40 pounds unassisted. 6. The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. A valid driver's license is required for the position. Physical Effort: Frequently required to perform heavy lifting up to 40-100 pounds. Lifts and carries material and equipment that weigh up to 40 pounds, unassisted, and occasionally lifts or moves heavier items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. Work requires extensive standing, walking, bending, and kneeling. In addition, work involves frequent arm and leg movements in operating controls. Uses hand and power tools and equipment that may require standing and holding tools in uncomfortable positions for extended periods. The work requires considerable bending, kneeling, climbing, and stooping. On site work requires strenuous physical exertion when handling heavy and bulky materials. Work typically requires bending, stooping, crawling, and climbing on ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and rooftops. Working Conditions: Works near moving parts of equipment and machinery. Employee is regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises, falls, falling material, burns or infections or injury from equipment. May be required to wear protective clothing, such as hard hats, steel-toed shoes, gloves, masks, and aprons. The work is done inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy, with spray and fumes usually present. May work in confined areas, such as crawl spaces and attics. Is exposed to moderate or high noise levels from operating machinery, sawdust in the air, glue, fumes, and hazards associated with woodworking and related power equipment including hazardous of working on and around scaffolds and ladders. The employee is sometimes required to make repairs and installations outside in all types of weather.
