The Fleet Technician - Field Service for Mobile Storage performs advanced field diagnostics and repairs on mobile storage equipment at customer sites, focusing on complex HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural issues while serving as the primary on-site company representative. This role may include such other responsibilities and duties as assigned from time to time, based upon company needs.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead advanced diagnostics and repairs at customer sites, serving as the primary on-site company representative

  • Perform advanced diagnostic and repair work in the field, especially HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and complex issues

  • Complete complex service call repairs, including multi-trade troubleshooting (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural)

  • Serve as the primary on-site company representative for all customer interactions

  • Lead customer communication, set expectations, and manage basic conflict or dissatisfaction

  • Make real-time decisions about repair approach, parts usage, and safety at customer locations

  • Complete all required field documentation and reporting

  • Handle emergency and urgent repairs at customer sites

  • Perform advanced equipment repair in the shop and provide technical guidance to the other technicians when not in the field

  • Perform advanced, non-standard, and multi-trade troubleshooting, including complex leaks or damage

  • Complete complex repairs: remove, repair, and install floors, tiles, roofs, walls, framing, doors, windows, screens, caulking, painting, filters/dampers, replacing skin, trim

  • Demonstrate expertise in multiple skilled trades: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, welding, diagnostics, and repairs

  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to other technicians when in the shop

  • Complete assignments on time and within budget as documented on work orders

  • Document work completed and materials used on Work Orders using the required mobile applications

  • Install and service Workplace Ready Solutions at customer sites, ensuring proper setup and scheduled services

  • Install/uninstall Workplace Ready Solutions according to specifications

  • Complete necessary installation and setup at customer sites

  • Review dispatch information for clarity, including directions to customer jobsites

  • Complete inspection prior to pickup and delivery

  • Complete scheduled site services and equipment staging

  • Maintain safety, organization, and leadership support across field and shop environments

  • Follow Mobile Storage and United Rentals 5S guidelines

  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and supplies

  • Use appropriate PPE and operate tools safely

  • Participate in Safety Huddles and report safety observations

  • Store tools, supplies, and Workplace Ready Solutions in a proper and secure place

  • Demonstrate leadership to the service team and train, mentor, and delegate appropriately

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Trade skill training preferred or equivalent years of experience

  • 5+ years of experience in the construction industry, repairing and maintaining equipment and tools

  • Advanced construction knowledge and background

  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and expert tool knowledge

  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and complex work instructions

  • Strong attention to detail for quality repairs and customer interaction

  • Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Advanced construction knowledge and background

  • Demonstrated time management skills

  • Ability to utilize required information technology, working knowledge of heavy equipment, tools, and the manufacturer’s warranty process

  • Accurately record time and materials used for proper work order completion

  • Ability to work independently and make real-time decisions

  • Advanced diagnostic and problem-solving skills
