The MOCVD Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine and corrective maintenance on Metal‑Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) reactors used in semiconductor epitaxy. This role ensures that equipment operates safely, reliably, and within factory specifications to support high‑volume production and engineering development. The technician works hands‑on with complex mechanical, electrical, gas delivery, and vacuum systems in a cleanroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on MOCVD reactors
- Support chamber cleans, hardware replacements, rebuilds, calibrations, and system resets.
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues involving vacuum pumps, MFCs, valves, robotics, sensors, heating systems, and gas panels.
- Execute scheduled PMs with proper documentation and attention to detail.
Operational Support
- Respond to production tool-down events and work with Equipment Engineers to restore operation quickly.
- Perform system checks, startup/shutdown procedures, and readiness verifications.
- Monitor tool performance, log issues, and escalate abnormal trends.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, PM records, and equipment history.
- Follow cleanroom protocols, safety procedures, and standard work instructions.
- Use CMMS systems to track work orders, parts usage, and maintenance status.
Safety & Hazardous Systems
- Safely work around hazardous gases with appropriate PPE.
- Verify gas delivery and exhaust systems operate correctly; report any abnormalities.
- Follow lock‑out/tag‑out, high‑temperature handling, and chemical safety guidelines.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work with Equipment Engineers to support upgrades, retrofits, and continuous improvement projects.
- Coordinate with Facilities on gas, vacuum, electrical, and cooling utilities.
- Support process and manufacturing teams to ensure equipment meets production schedules.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate degree in Electronics, Mechanical Technology, Mechatronics, or related field or equivalent military/technical experience.
- Hands‑on experience maintaining complex equipment (semiconductor tools, industrial machinery, vacuum systems, etc.).
- Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and/or vacuum systems.
- Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and work instructions.
- Comfort working in a cleanroom with full gowning.
Preferred
- Experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment—MOCVD, PVD, CVD, etch, or similar.
- Experience with hazardous gas handling systems.
- Familiarity with data collection tools, SPC charts, or equipment monitoring software.
- CMMS experience (Maximo, SAP PM, etc.).
- Basic troubleshooting training (5-Why, root cause analysis, etc.).

Work Environment
- Cleanroom environment with full PPE (gown, gloves, respirator if required).

- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and work around high-temperature/hazardous gas systems.
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $70,000 – 90,000USD.
Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications.
