Maintenance Technician I

Job Summary: At Hempel, we’re more than a coatings company—we protect what matters most. We’re looking for a skilled Maintenance Technician III to join our Dallas team and keep our operations running safely, smoothly, and efficiently.
As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll ensure the reliability of our production equipment and create a safe environment for your colleagues. Your day-to-day will include:
Essential Responsibilities:
Follow Standard Work Instructions provided for the assigned department
Follow ISO and Hempel e-convention guidelines
Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on all production equipment including but not limited to, Valves, Motors, Pumps, Conveyors, Mixers, Dissolvers, Filling Lines by referring to manuals and manufacturer’s recommendations and work instructions
Repair and rebuild all production equipment including but not limited to, pumps, valves, gearboxes, conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic equipment and all other mechanical equipment as needed.
Work with production personnel to troubleshoot all mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic issues that affect production
Maintain ongoing relationship building according to Hempel’s standard
Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges
Control downtime by working with production Supervisors and leads to work on equipment when not needed by production when possible
Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies
Work in Confined spaces as required using all required PPE and strictly following all safety rules and regulations and requirements
Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Documentation required in CMMS work order system
Maintain safe and clean working environment
Perform LOTO (Lock out tag out), Isolate and verify, fill out paperwork as needed to ensure safe repairs on all equipment before starting work
Lookup and reference all SDS (MSDS) when needed when working around different chemicals to determine proper PPE needed
Report all safety and environmental concerns when issues are found and take steps to eliminate or mitigate when necessary to insure a safe working environment
Maintenance personnel are considered essential staff which requires them to report to work in all emergencies to assist as needed
Adhere to all safety rules and regulations including industrial hygiene practices
Develop understanding of Hempel manufacturing process
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to learn and follow safety rules and regulations, including C1/D1 environments
Basic understanding of OSHA safety practices; OSHA 10‑Hour a plus
Entry‑level experience or exposure to electrical and mechanical systems preferred
Willingness to learn industrial manufacturing processes
Basic knowledge of multimeters (voltage measurement) and measuring tools (calipers, micrometers)
Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions: follow preventive maintenance schedule and instructions
Basic understanding of mechanical drawings (training provided if needed)
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Basic troubleshooting skills
Ability to communicate effectively in English (read and write)
Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation
Team oriented with a positive, safety‑focused attitude
High school diploma or GED required; technical coursework or certifications preferred
Experience with confined space entries preferred
