The purpose of a Facilities Mechanic I position is to perform basic tasks and repairs within the fulfillment center including work on conveyors, PIT equipment, and general building maintenance. This requires a basic understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. In addition, the position requires familiarity with AC/DC systems and the ability to use a volt meter. General tenant improvement work such as light repairs to plumbing, electrical, walls or room finishes, and small repairs and projects should be carried out independently. This position assists all other Facilities Mechanics with more complex maintenance duties. Additional responsibilities include participating in 5S organization and cleaning activities as appropriate.
Corporate Real Estate & Workplace Services (CREWS) is responsible for a variety of work streams and projects that allow our campuses to have a comfortable and safe work place. The services the department provides range from building maintenance and repair, AV Setup/Installation, guest registration, badges/parking permits, space planning/moves, drawing requests and design, large scale projects, and café/catering services.
Where You'll Work
This role is onsite and will require you to work from Bethlehem, PA.
Shift Schedule: Wednesday to Saturday - 7pm to 5:30am
What You'll Do
Building Maintenance – Perform and/or facilitate general facility repairs such as plumbing, electrical, lighting, painting, HVAC, and wall repair. Perform repairs on dock doors, dock locks, and dock plates to resolve problems and ensure successful operation. Escort and assist outside vendors as needed.
Equipment Maintenance – Perform planned and unplanned repairs, and preventative maintenance to production-related equipment, Powered Industrial Trucks, and building equipment as needed. Identify and correct safety hazards and potential maintenance issues before they become critical. Assists with repairs when unscheduled breakdowns occur.
Conveyor, Automation and Sorter Systems – Support and perform planned and unplanned repairs and preventative maintenance to maintain operation of conveyors and sorter equipment. Assists with conveyor, automation and sortation system repairs as needed. Address production-related issues and consult with team leaders to ensure necessary corrections to maximize equipment throughput are performed.
Problem Solving – Detect and inform team leaders of potential problems so that resolutions to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating/cooling, and equipment problems are performed before they impact the operation of the facility.
Continuous Improvement – Participates in team activities around Kaizen events and other continuous improvement initiatives. Supports the design and implementation of continuous improvement processes including Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities.
Electrical – Have a fundamental understanding of AC and DC systems and how to use a voltage meter. Must be able to follow lock out/tag out policy. May be asked to assist team leaders with repairs or replacement of de-energized electrical systems.
Safety / Facility Cleanliness –Practice and be a leader in 5S and safety procedures to ensure that the area is safe, organized, and clean. Maintain complete inventory and cleaning of all equipment and work areas daily. Understand and comply with all safety and environmental regulations, company policies, and procedures including but not limited to hazardous energy control (lock out/tag out), safe lifting techniques, fall protection, proper power equipment operation, and use of PPE, etc. Identify and act immediately to correct any safety hazards, spills, etc., to avoid the risk of accident, and escalate issues as needed
What You'll Bring
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. · Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals. · Familiarity with blueprints, and engineering specifications
High School graduate or equivalent; Industrial mechanic trade school courses or certification (i.e., electrical, controls, plumbing, welding, etc.) or equivalent military technical training.
Minimum of 6 months - 3 years’ experience with mechanical and electrical systems in a fast-paced production environment
Ability to be on call, workdays or nights, weekends and overtime as needed
Must have a valid driver’s license
Prefer strong prioritization and organizational skills, have the ability to oversee the timely completion of multiple tasks, and be able to follow oral and written instructions
Strong computer skills
Prefer working knowledge of voltage meter and AC/DC systems
Must have the ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds
