Painter / Hotel Preventative Maintenance Technician
SUMMARY
The Painter / Hotel Preventative Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the hotel’s guestrooms and public areas through routine inspections, preventative maintenance, painting, and minor repairs. This role ensures all hotel spaces remain safe, functional, and visually appealing in accordance with brand standards, supporting an exceptional guest experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Painting & Surface Touch-Ups
Perform touch-up painting in guestrooms, corridors, back-of-house areas, and public spaces.
Repaint surfaces showing wear, scuffs, stains, or damage.
Carpentry & General Repairs
Repair or replace doors, hardware, hinges, furniture, cabinetry, and millwork.
Adjust or repair baseboards, shelving, drawer slides, and built-in components.
Perform drywall patching and texture matching in both guestrooms and public areas.
Tile, Grout & Caulking
Replace cracked, loose, or damaged tiles.
Regrout or recaulk bathrooms, showers, and entryways.
Ensure all wet areas remain properly sealed and waterproof.
Guestroom & Public Area Preventative Maintenance
Complete scheduled PMs for guestrooms and assigned public spaces.
Follow PM checklists including plumbing, HVAC, electrical fixtures, hardware, safety items, and general room condition.
Identify issues requiring follow-up repairs or vendor support.
HVAC / AC Maintenance
Replace filters and inspect AC units for proper operation.
Address basic AC performance issues and escalate larger problems.
Plumbing Maintenance
Inspect and repair toilets, faucets, drains, showerheads, and supply lines.
Snake clogged drains and ensure proper water flow in guestrooms and public restrooms.
Electronics & TV Maintenance
Test and troubleshoot in-room televisions, remotes, inputs, and basic connectivity.
Ensure all in-room electronic features function correctly.
Safety & Documentation
Follow all safety protocols and use proper PPE.
Document completed work orders and PM tasks in the hotel’s maintenance system.
Report hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
Other Duties
Assist the Engineering or Maintenance team with special projects as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum one year of maintenance, repair, or engineering experience.
Minimum two years of customer service experience.
Ability to speak, read, and write English clearly.

PREFERRED
Previous hotel or luxury property experience.
Certification from a trade or technical maintenance program.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office or hotel-specific maintenance software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods (up to 6 hours per shift).
Ability to lift to 50 lbs routinely.
Ability to push/pull up to 250 lbs occasionally (carts, equipment).
Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb ladders, and reach overhead.
Must possess manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment.
The pay scale for Maintenance Technician I is $23.75 per hour.
The pay scale is the base salary or hourly wage range, exclusive of incentive pay such as commissions, piece rates, gratuities, and the like, that Montage reasonably expects to pay for the position. Please let us know if you have any questions.
