About the opportunity
This position is part of Mercy’s Engineering team, which supports Mercy Hospital for Women, Whittlesea Early Parenting Centre and O’Connell Family Centre. The Engineering team is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and daily operations of the buildings, ensuring that facilities and equipment operate reliably, effectively and in compliance with required standards. The primary purpose of the role is to provide engineering and maintenance services, along with electrical expertise, to customer departments in a safe and efficient manner.

To thrive in this role, you will:
Communicate information effectively
Execute breakdown work requests
Execute preventatives checks as scheduled
Provide assistance to external contractors when required
Source parts and consumables as required
Provide electrical expertise and guidance to the department
Prepare estimates of electrical installations and repairs as requested
Monitor TechOne for new work requests
Act as a role model in the adoption of a service focus for external contractors
Complete work requests
To provide guidance and education on electrical matters to peers and customers
Demonstrate multi-skill capabilities to work across trade boundaries to provide an effective & efficient service to the organisation
Attendance at appropriate in-service sessions
Attend relevant meetings
Maintain knowledge of Australian Standards in particular AS 3000, 3003 & 3009
Promote a pro-active approach to verbal and written communication
Attend relevant department meetings and forums
Maintain accurate documentation
Provide reports on specific electrical matters to the department and management
Establishes effective communication channels with all staff and customers
Take part in an On-Call roster to cover After hours, Weekends and Public Holidays and be available to attend the Hospital during emergencies
Demonstrate multi-skill capabilities to work across trade boundaries to provide an effective & efficient service to the organisation
Assists with the tracking and resolving ongoing issues that result in Afterhours calls
Performs duties in accordance with after hour policy & procedures
Assist the Engineering & Maintenance Manager with executing contracts in accordance with the defined scope of work
Assist the Engineering & Maintenance Manager appraise the performance of the contractor.
When required, provide support to the external contractor assigned to executing the contracts
Perform work in accordance with the project plan
Work with external contractors in accordance with project plans
In conjunction with Engineering & Maintenance Manager develop plans to meet expected time frames and budgets
Qualifications:
Trades based or more than 5 years experience in a facilities management position
A Grade electrical licence (Unlimited electrical licence as defined by Energy Safe Victoria)
Austell licence for telephone and cabling or be prepared to undertake this licence (is preferred)
Current Victorian drivers license
You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:
A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
