Position Details:

The Opportunity:

Perform semi-skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair, remodeling, painting, and construction of buildings, grounds, equipment, and facilities within the College of Veterinary Medicine. Responsible for all facility maintenance required to support College operations and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.

Additional Information:

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary:

$4,653 - $5,398 | Range 45G (Steps G-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduation or equivalent and two years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction or repair work; OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Working knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used in facility maintenance and repair.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maintenance manuals, and safety regulations.

  • Basic computer skills for work order management and recordkeeping.

  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor in varying environmental conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with electronic/lab equipment repair.

  • Completion of a vocational or technical training program in building trades, mechanical systems, or related field.

  • Experience in a university, hospital, or veterinary facility setting.

  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to building operations and hazardous materials.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to safety, reliability, and high-quality workmanship.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a dynamic environment.
