Maintenance Mechanic I (Night Shift)

Job Type: Full-Time | Night Shift (Mon-Fri: 10PM-6:30AM)
Compensation: $25.94/hour + Shift Differential + Benefits + Overtime

What you will do

You will be involved with the installation, maintenance (including preventative), service, and repair to complex components parts of machine tools, plant equipment, facilities, and buildings. Beyond the proficient fields, assignments are considered of average complexity and performed under moderate supervision.  You must have the ability to complete job duties at an acceptable level. This position is also responsible for problem identification, troubleshooting, and participating effectively in a team environment.

How you will do it

  • Repair, maintain, replace, install, and test a variety of equipment that may include the following systems: electrical/electronic systems, circuits and equipment, mechanical systems, pneumatics/hydraulic systems, facility maintenance, and welding.

  • Inspect equipment and diagnoses trouble or malfunctions.

  • Analyze equipment failures, determines cause, and makes necessary adjustments.

  • Knowledgeable in operation of hand tools, voltage, and ampere measuring devices. Ability to read and work from blueprints, drawings, sketches, and layouts. Must have working knowledge of techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used.

  • Safety Awareness - Takes responsibility for his or her own safety as well as the safety of others. Understands the proper processes/equipment in the department. Knowledge of JSA’s, PPE usage, 5S, and all safety regulations in the facility. Responsible for maintaining overall cleanliness of working area and equipment in a clean orderly condition.

  • Quality - Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor(s). Performs first article inspection for conformance to specifications both blue print and work order.

  • Teamwork – Builds teamwork by working with other departments, shifts, and management to meet and exceed customer expectations. Communicate regularly and effectively with co-workers, utilities, coordinators, and management and reports problems with safety, quality, processes, equipment, materials, and/or questionable conditions to the Department Supervisor(s). Displays professionalism in the workplace, able to perform duties during times of stress and pressure.

  • Continuous Improvement – Ability to manage time and deliver results. Ability to troubleshoot and provide solutions with the understanding of value-added versus non-value added activities and improve the ratio. Ability to collect and understand production data corresponding to the machinery.

  • Flexibility – Availability to work overtime and/or move between shifts for training and/or coverage purposes to support production as needed.

  • Demonstrated ability to use a computer, utilizing software such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and maintenance systems. Relevant knowledge to look up blueprints, maintenance orders, key parts, and use the system as a tool to assist in the maintenance department.

  • Perform other assignments as directed by management.

What we look for

  • Require a high school diploma/GED and two (2) years previous on-the-job maintenance experience. On-the-job maintenance experience means that hands-on experience has been obtained in a manufacturing environment similar to the Largo operation. Completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience will enhance proficiency

  • Proficiency in any two and a general knowledge of the remaining fields as a minimum requirement: mechanical, electrical, pneumatics/hydraulics, electronic, facility maintenance, and welding. Proficiency is defined to mean: requiring minimal supervision, displaying quality workmanship, completing assignments in prescribed time frame, following safety principles, properly selecting and utilizing tools and materials and maintaining levels of satisfactory housekeeping

  • Ability to organize work and meet deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read, communicate and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, blueprints and engineering drawings in the English Language

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrates an attention to detail

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a noisy, dusty, industrial/manufacturing environment with some exposure to non-toxic irritants

  • Ability to work with machinery and moving parts

  • Ability to operate cranes, trucks, motor vehicles

  • Ability to work with moving vehicles, ladders, and scaffolding. Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces

  • Ability to properly lift/carry/push/pull/manipulate/transport up to 25 lbs. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs, and frequently lift up to 40 lbs., and consistently life up to 25 lbs.

  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.

  • Ability to work in repetitive motions and pressure involving fingers, hands, and wrists.

  • The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing or walking over hard concrete surface.

  • Exposure to recurring bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, sitting, climbing, stretching, reaching, or similar activities.

  • Ability to reach at high levels.

  • Ability to read, write, speak and communicate in the English Language

  • Must have the physical strength and ability to frequently work more than 40 hours weekly

  • Ability to operate all job necessary equipment including moving vehicles in a safe manner.  Persons under the influence of illegal drugs, alcohol or a prescribed medication which has a prescription warning to not operate machinery or drive a moving vehicle, shall not be considered as having the ability to operate the necessary equipment in a safe manner.
