Job Summary: The position is part of the Equipment Repair Shop under the Maintenance & Repair Section of Facilities Management Service (FMS), located at the Lyons Campus of the VA New Jersey Health Care System (VA NJHCS).

Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The duties of this position require considerable movement around the hospital and involve bending, lifting, crawling through restrictive areas, and working from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms both in- and outside buildings. The Maintenance Mechanic must frequently lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift equipment or materials weighing 50 pounds or more with proper equipment. Assignments may require standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
