Job Summary: Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic performs multi-trade building maintenance at NIST's Boulder campus. Duties include carpentry, painting, plumbing, minor electrical repairs, and flooring and ceiling system maintenance. Incumbent interprets instructions, uses measuring instruments and specialized tools, and works independently with minimal supervision. Position also supports snow removal and emergency response as needed.

The applicant's overall background of experience, education and training must clearly demonstrate the ability to perform maintenance mechanic worker duties, such as maintaining building plumbing systems, interior and exterior doors, floor repairs/replacements, ceiling grid repairs/replacements and office painting without more than normal supervision. Applicants must have experience in carpentry and plumbing. Applicants must meet the screen out elements and achieve an overall score of at least fifty (50%) or higher Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
