About this opportunity:
The Maintenance Lead, Electrical position is a front-line leader responsible for the safe, efficient planning and execution of maintenance work in the field. This role focuses on leading craft personnel through troubleshooting and execution. The position partners closely with Operations, Planning & Scheduling, and Technical Specialists to ensure high-quality work, minimal downtime, and strong coordination of urgent maintenance activities.
The role provides day-to-day leadership of maintenance craft in the field, ensures work is properly scoped and prepared for once-through execution, and supports accurate communication, risk management, and resource utilization – and problem-solving priority issues in real time.
What you’ll do:
Responsible for health, safety and environmental performance and awareness in areas of responsibility to achieve our goals of no accidents, no harm to people and no harm to the environment. Investigates accidents and near misses. Prepares and conducts safety meetings. Coordinates and participates in all refinery safety programs. Maintains a clean, safe work site and ensures adequate housekeeping
Leads optimal utilization of primarily electrical resources and secondarily instrumentation resources to support process unit mechanical availability for assigned areas of the refinery
Optimizes the utilization of craft employees both within the area and across the site
Provides technical assistance to aid electrical craftsmen in troubleshooting and to ensure quality of work
Participates in daily manpower meeting to ensure appropriate and efficient use of available resources
Responsible for job preparation activities, including assignment of craftsmen to jobs, reviewing scope of work, job walkdowns, identifying and communicating changes to plan, verifying availability of materials and tools, and confirming schedule viability
Responsible for performing maintenance work in a safe, efficient and effective manner according to plan and for ensuring quality of work. Actively communicates status of work to Planning & Scheduling
Administers the union - company labor agreement fairly and firmly, with an understanding and consideration for the company’s position on issues. Coordinates actions and responses with other members of management. Investigates grievances thoroughly and responds at first step. Participates in arbitration hearings as required
May fill in for other Maintenance and Shop Supervisors. Resources supervised may include refinery craft employees or contractor personnel
May be required to work off shift and weekend assignments
Who you are:
Legally authorized to work in the US
8+ years of experience in a refinery or similar industrial environment
High school diploma or equivalent. Post‑secondary education such as a Bachelor's degree, Associate degree, or an Electrician Journeyman’s Card
Maximo experience or experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Demonstrated supervision of Electrical Craft in a heavy industrial setting, in a formal or non-formal setting
Knowledge of Electrical codes and standards
Analyzing problems and troubleshooting - able to systematically determine the root cause(s) of problems through questioning and inspecting and then identify the best course of action for repair
Understanding of Union-Company Collective Bargaining Agreements
Management of Change, Incident Investigations, and Job Safety Analysis
Demonstrated Competence in reading technical drawings
