Summary of Job Description

The positions within Maintenance I are responsible for custodial and janitorial duties. The employee performs general labor duties such as transporting paper and metal totes and emptying out materials, garbage, and recycling. The employee operates a forklift and must maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Essential Functions

  • Remove trash from shop floor areas
  • Empty recyclable paper bins
  • Collect and bale cardboard
  • Collect wooden skids and restock for recycling
  • Perform lawn care and yard maintenance
  • Perform company vehicle maintenance and complete daily checklists
  • Clean and inspect eye wash units
  • Sweep and clean floors
  • Assist in furniture equipment moves
  • Perform miscellaneous painting projects
  • Follow written and verbal instructions to complete tasks such as work orders and schedules
  • Operate a crane/hoist for heavy lifting
  • Do daily Inspects of vehicles
  • Safely Operate forklifts throughout facilities
  • Use and operate floor scrubber to clean floors
  • Assist co-workers as needed
  • Work required hours and have an excellent attendance record
  • Work overtime as needed
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Ability to replace light bulbs in a safe manner
  • Ability to work at various heights using Aerial Work Platforms or Ladders
     

Marginal Work Functions

  • Work with other co-workers in the area*
  • Repair minor maintenance problems
  • May assist in training new employees
  • Work outside in all weather conditions: snow, rain, heat, and cold to complete tasks*

Basic Qualifications

  • 1 or more years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma or equivalent education
  • Previous experience in custodial or janitorial duties

Preferred Qualifications to complete Essential Functions

  • Previous forklift experience
  • Obtain Certification in First Aid, LOTO, Blood Bourne Pathogens or other certifications that maybe required.

  • Tolerate constant standing and sitting while performing tasks
  • Have good hand eye coordination
  • Use both hands for tool operation, carrying of parts, and assisting co-workers with heavy lifting of parts
  • Operate and access heavy equipment safely and effectively
  • Operate and drive a vehicle to plow all parking lots, work areas, and pathways
  • Remember task sequence and safety constraint
