Maintenance Assistant

Location: Tees Valley Hospital, Middlesbrough (Based)/ Cobalt Hospital, Newcastle Upon Tyne

Hours: Part Time, 22.5 weekly hours

The role:

We currently have a great opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Tees Valley Hospital, Middlesbrough. You will play a key role in ensuring the upkeep and presentation of our facilities. This position is ideal for a reliable individual seeking hands-on experience and dedicated to maintaining a safe, welcoming environment.

Where you will be based:

Tees Valley Hospital is Teesside’s private hospital situated on the doorstep of the Tees Valley community and provides surgical, medical and assessment services on the grounds of Acklam Hall in Middlesbrough.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Responding to departmental maintenance requests in all areas of the hospital in a timely manner

  • Managing maintenance folder to log, plan and complete job requests in a timely manner

  • Proactively identify areas and items in need of repair in a timely manner  

  • Basic plumbing tasks: repair showers, sinks and toilets, fix minor leaks and unblock sinks, fixing radiators

  • Basic carpentry jobs including replacing door locks, hanging shelves and pictures.

  • Changing light bulbs and minor electrical work

  • Basic decorating jobs: general painting / decorating, filling wall defects

  • Moving of furniture and equipment

Required Skills & Experience:

  • General maintenance knowledge and experience

  • Good understanding of Health and Safety procedures and best practice

  • Good fault-finding skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently

  • Good communication skills

  • Confident team player

  • Clean Valid driving license
