The Role

As a Mainframe zOS Support Specialist at Kyndryl, you’ll be responsible for managing, optimizing, and supporting z/OS and z/VM systems in enterprise mainframe environments. In this role, you ensure high system availability, maintain patch compliance, and support stable, secure operations for business‑critical platforms.

You will proactively monitor mainframe environments, analyze performance, resolve incidents using management tools, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support business operations and implement best practices. Your expertise plays a key role in maintaining reliable and compliant environments that support global enterprise workloads.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize z/OS and z/VM systems to ensure availability, stability, and performance.

  • Proactively monitor mainframe environments and resolve incidents using management tools.

  • Maintain patch compliance and coordinate system updates to minimize downtime and risk.

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support business operations and implement best practices.

  • Document system changes and maintains accurate records to support audits and compliance.

Who You Are

You’re good at what you do and bring extensive hands‑on experience supporting enterprise mainframe environments. You demonstrate a strong growth mindset, take ownership of system availability and compliance, and apply analytical thinking to solve complex technical challenges. You work effectively in structured, regulated environments and collaborate confidently with global technical teams.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 7+ years of hands‑on experience supporting mainframe environments, including z/OS and z/VM systems.

  • Proficiency in administering and troubleshooting z/OS and z/VM systems.

  • Experience using mainframe management tools for monitoring, performance analysis, and incident resolution.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills in enterprise‑scale environments.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Intermediate English proficiency, required for technical documentation, incident reporting, and communication with global teams.

  • Familiarity with patch management, incident response, and compliance processes.

  • Experience working in regulated, audit‑driven, or high‑availability enterprise environments.
