The Role

As a Mainframe Network Support Specialist at Kyndryl, you’ll be responsible for configuring, monitoring, and supporting network connectivity across enterprise mainframe environments. In this role, you ensure network availability, monitor latency, and maintain secure and reliable communication for critical systems.

You will support and manage mainframe network protocols, troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues, and work closely with cross‑functional teams to implement network changes and upgrades. Your work contributes directly to stable operations, strong security posture, and high‑availability environments supporting mission‑critical business services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain network availability and latency within mainframe environments.

  • Configure and support mainframe network protocols, including VTAM, across z/OS, Tandem, and Unisys platforms.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity and performance issues to ensure system reliability.

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement network changes, upgrades, and improvements.

  • Document network configurations and maintain standards to support security and compliance requirements.

Who You Are

You’re good at what you do and bring hands‑on experience supporting mainframe network environments. You have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, understand the importance of network availability and security, and are comfortable working in structured, enterprise‑scale environments. You collaborate effectively with global teams and contribute to reliable, secure operations.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience in mainframe network support or administration, with exposure to z/OS environments

  • Proficiency in configuring and monitoring mainframe network protocols (such as VTAM).

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for diagnosing network connectivity and performance issues.

  • Understanding of network security principles in enterprise environments.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Intermediate English proficiency required for technical documentation, incident reporting, and communication with global teams.

  • Experience working in regulated, high‑availability, or mission‑critical environments.

  • Familiarity with operational documentation standards, runbooks, and compliance requirements.
