Responsible for obtaining, processing, sorting, and distributing mail and/or packages to the campus, as well as providing customer service. Primary focus may be in a mail room, on a shipping/receiving dock, or on operating a meter.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Works with campus partners such as USPS, FedEx, UPS, and Amazon, as well as campus departments, to intake mail and/or packages each day. Accuracy, efficiency, and teamwork are all critical success factors given the significant volume.

  • Processes intake for each item. Unloads, scans, sorts, and shelves packages for pickup, delivery to customers, or placement in lockers. Counts and sorts mail. Weighs, scans, and sorts metered items.

  • Processes outgoing items by delivering mail and/or packages, or locates and scans each package that customers come to pick up. Carries a valid driver’s license at all times. Must observe all posted speed limits and drive no faster than 10 MPH in areas where there are none posted.

  • Provides customer service to staff, faculty, and/or students who need help finding or mailing/shipping items. Verifies proper identification, obtains signatures on handheld units, and uploads signatures to the master database.

  • Provides timely look-up functions for mail and/or packages using university and industry-specific software. Assists in maintaining accurate names and addresses in the mail forwarding system while complying with the US Postal Service's mail processing and forwarding guidelines.

  • Demonstrates safety protocols at all times and attends regular training.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$16.40 - $22.12 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
