Job Overview:

The Kraft Heinz Company is currently seeking a Machinist/Welder to work at our facility in Springfield, MO. Under the direction of the Maintenance leadership, this position will provide support to the entire plant and KHMS practices through machining, fabricating, troubleshooting, etc.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for meeting KHMS requirements as outlined in the Maintenance, Reliability and Engineering (MRE) Pillar along with the Trio maintenance portions.

  • Accountable for the Safety, Health and Environmental systems and operational standards to ensure compliance as is outlined in our policies/procedures and processes. Must report and/or correct unsafe acts or conditions (BOS/QRP) as well as perform work safely, including following GMP and PPE guidelines.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of welding types and welding applications including knowledge in 3A standards and practices for sanitary welding

  • Have working knowledge of metals and their application, especially stainless steel.

  • Operate all shop equipment including but not limited to lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders, and welders.

  • Work from blueprints, shop sketches or sample parts and with all maintenance personnel to sanitary Weld/fabricate equipment parts used for the assigned Department. This includes making sketches, recording dimensions and any other information needed to correct and update drawings.

  • Be able to lay out and fabricate sheet metal.

  • Keep and maintain sheet metal equipment and hand tools.

  • Maintain a good working relationship with all maintenance and production associates.

  • Build partnerships among departments that seek opportunities within continuous improvement environments that reduce costs or increase efficiency.

  • Adhere to all plant GMPs.

  • Conform to hot work, confined space, and other applicable OSHA requirements.

  • Perform area housekeeping duties and implement and maintain 5S for assigned area.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the maintenance leadership team.

  • Use the SAP system to document maintenance activities, including a daily review of SAP for work assignments and entering time each day for work performed.

  • Complete the assigned preventative maintenance tasks.

  • Support implementation of KHMS work practices and attend meetings as required.

  • Respond to breakdowns that occur throughout the plant.

  • Complete welding, machining and fabrication tasks including Zone 1 sanitary welding.

  • Complete root cause failure analysis on equipment breakdowns using KHMS processes.

  • Complete any recommendation or implementation of continuous improvement on mechanical equipment design to improve line effectiveness & equipment reliability.

  • Support training for other associates (welding, fabrication, troubleshooting) as needed.

  • Support and maintain positive rapport with customers, suppliers, contractors, and 3rd party associates.

  • Support and participant in assigned teams & support team decisions.

  • Support and configure the calibration of all forms of mechanical and pneumatic process equipment.

  • Required to work overtime, downtimes, and holidays at times when the workload demands.

  • Required to provide coverage for peers on vacation, training, sick, and meetings.

  • Required to perform all work in accordance with Kraft Heinz Loss Control Policy i.e. lockout/tag out, hot work, fall protection, and other safety OSHA regulations. This includes “leading by example” and coaching others as needed to practice proper safety procedures and wearing correct PPEs.

  • Understand and apply KHMS (Kraft Heinz Management System) practices such as 5S, centerline management, shift hand-offs, operational standard ownership/support, problem solving, etc.

  • Clearly and concisely convey ideas/facts through written and verbal communication.

  • Required keyboarding and typing skills with the ability to communicate with Microsoft Office business application software.

  • Accountable for the QRMP (Quality Risk Management Process) system and operational standards as outlined in the Springfield QRMP accountability document.

  • Must apply problem solving techniques, communicate effectively, demonstrate leadership, and plan effectively.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in an industrial maintenance field.

  •  Must be able to demonstrate ability to perform sanitary welding or machining (fabrication using lathes/mills).

  • Strong communication skills, including verbal and/or written communications using email, logbooks, etc.

Physical Requirements:

  • Performs bending, squatting, kneeling, sorting, ascending and descending; and moves up to 50 pounds; holds and grips object; must possess manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment and disassemble and reassemble equipment.

Working Environments:

  • Primarily indoors in both a hot, humid production environment and cold, cooler environment.
