Job Description

  

Summary:
The Machine Maintenance Technician ensures the reliable operation of production machinery and mechanical equipment. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on a variety of machines, including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and specialized production equipment. The technician works closely with supervisors and production teams to resolve mechanical issues and support continuous improvement in manufacturing operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical problems by observing equipment in operation and listening for irregular sounds.
  • Dismantle machines and remove defective parts for repair or replacement.
  • Inspect and measure parts for wear, damage, or dimensional changes.
  • Adjust, align, and calibrate machine components and control instruments using hand tools and precision measuring devices.
  • Repair or replace defective parts and reassemble machines.
  • Install and set up new or rebuilt machinery and equipment.
  • Operate machine shop tools (lathe, drill press, grinder, etc.) to fabricate or repair parts as needed.
  • Initiate purchase orders for replacement parts and supplies.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate equipment status to supervisors.
  • Follow all safety procedures and promote a safe work environment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
  • 2–4 years of experience in machine maintenance, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and maintenance recordkeeping.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Physical/Mental Demands:

  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and handling of tools and parts.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, and working in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and in environments with moderate noise, vibration, and exposure to industrial hazards.
