About Woven by Toyota
Woven by Toyota is enabling Toyota’s once-in-a-century transformation into a mobility company. Inspired by a legacy of innovating for the benefit of others, our mission is to challenge the current state of mobility through human-centric innovation — expanding what “mobility” means and how it serves society.
Our work centers on four pillars: AD/ADAS, our autonomous driving and advanced driver assist technologies; Arene, our software development platform for software-defined vehicles; Woven City, a test course for mobility; and Cloud & AI, the digital infrastructure powering our collaborative foundation. Business-critical functions empower these teams to execute, and together, we’re working toward one bold goal: a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all.

TEAM
We develop human-centered automated driving solutions for personal and commercial use. We develop perception technologies and its production software for the AD/ADAS system. To work towards a reliable and functional system, we are solving complex real-world problems using large-scale data, machine learning algorithms, and a variety of perception technologies.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
You combine your knowledge of modern machine learning and computer vision with a strong consideration for safety and cost efficiency. You are excited by first principles ML work, including pre-training objectives, scaling behavior, data strategy, and rigorous evaluation. Also, you bring patience and a deeper understanding of Toyota’s mass production processes by asking “What can I do for you?” with a “Giver” mindset. As an intern, you will get to know our perception & prediction stack, and will report to one of our tech leads.
RESPONSIBILITIES
・Perform large-scale self-supervised learning (e.g. contrastive, masked modeling, video prediction, multi-view and temporal pre-training) for autonomous driving perception models
・Investigate model scaling laws (data, parameters, compute) and efficient training at scale (distributed training, mixed precision)
・Investigate world models (latent dynamics, spatio-temporal modeling, transformer-based video models, Gaussian Splatting / 3D scene representations)
・Build cloud workflows that connect your ML model with data curation and evaluation pipelines
・Stay up-to-date with advances in computer vision and machine learning, particularly in the areas of world models and pre-training
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
・Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or similar
・Strong proficiency with Python + Pytorch
・Solid understanding of deep learning fundamentals (optimization, losses, architectures) and practical training stability
・Experience with at least one of:
・self-supervised learning / representation learning
・video generation models
・large scale pre-training
・Experience with data libraries including jupyter, numpy, scipy, pandas, scikit-learn, matplotlib etc.
・Good proficiency in English
NICE TO HAVES
・Experience training or scaling transformers / diffusion models for vision/video
・Distributed training experience (DDP/FSDP/DeepSpeed)
・Experience with AWS services
・Good proficiency in Japanese
