Qualifications
The Behavioral Health Tech must have good human relations and communication skills. Must be able to follow procedures and instructions given by the licensed nurse. Must be able to acquire a basic knowledge of patient care principles, medical terminology and equipment within the assigned service area.
Whether working in Minnesota or North Dakota, certification is preferred. If working in North Dakota and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be registered as a Nurse Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health within four months from the date of initial employment. Certification is required if designated by law (i.e. Home Care). If applicable to position, may require a valid class D driver's license and good driving record.
The LPN is a graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
If position requires IV therapy/management skills, the following is required in North Dakota: graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.
Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
