Hillcrest Hospital’s 3 Main Complex Medical Care Unit provides medical, surgical, and telemetry nursing care to adult and geriatric inpatient and observation patients. This unit specializes in cardiac/post-catheterization, genitourinary, thoracic, vascular, renal, gastrointestinal, diabetes, respiratory disease, ostomy, and wound management. 

As an LPN, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional, top-quality care to a diverse patient population. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, all while enhancing your nursing skills through hands-on experience and numerous educational resources offered within the Cleveland Clinic system.

A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Collect, document and report patient data and observations to the RN or authorized directing health care provider.  
  • Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.  
  • Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.    
  • Perform routine laboratory tests. 
  • Educate patients and family members.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate of an accredited Practical or Vocational Nursing Program 
  • Current Ohio licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • One year of patient care experience  

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires frequent walking from department to department; requires sitting at a workstation or desk; requires standing; work may include occasional pushing and/or pulling, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs., such as files, documents and computer printouts.
  • Work requires finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination to operate a computer keyboard at a moderate skill level.
  • Mental Demands: Ability to work at a fast pace and prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests; ability to resolve conflicts among staff and to work collaboratively with department directors, physicians and other members of the healthcare team; ability to ensure operational efficiency; ability to problem-solve and make decisions; ability to exercise self-control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers.
  • Special Demands: Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs, directing staff and carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities.
  • Self-starting and self-motivating; working hours may exceed eight (8) hours per day and is based on what is needed to accomplish work at hand.
