Trinity Health Livonia is a beautiful full-service, 304-bed acute care hospital, located in Livonia, MI, that provides comprehensive care, including a 24-hour emergency department, general medicine, inpatient and outpatient surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, intensive care unit, cancer, cardiology, geriatrics and birthing and women's health. REQUIREMENTS:

  • Analytical and reasoning skills. Ability to coordinate information. Attention to detail.

  • Ability to integrate nursing clinical practice knowledge with OSHA regulations.

  • Effective communication skills in order to interact with department managers, employees and physicians in order to coordinate information and provide counseling to employees regarding health issues.

  • Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel and outside customers.

  • Performs pre-employment physical assessments and screening tests, including medical history and tuberculosis screening, and arranges for appropriate laboratory tests.

  • Interprets and evaluates historical data, laboratory reports and screening tests in accordance with Employee Health policies and clinical protocol.

  • Administers all employee vaccinations (i.e., Hepatitis B and influenza), annual tuberculosis and FIT testing.

  • Conducts appropriate follow-up and ensures compliance with OSHA and JACHO requirements.

  • Utilizes all aspects of the Nursing Process with the evaluation of all employee incident reports and severity of medical condition.  Consult with registered nurse and provide and/or refer for immediate care and/or additional care as needed.

  • Provides accurate documentation and maintains Employee Health Charts. Ensures confidentiality of all employee files.

  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of reports as legally required. Maintains logs regarding testing, vaccinations, incidents etc.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulation/compliance with ADA and FMLA.

  • Assess job requirements in conjunction with restrictions to identify barriers that may impact the employee ability to return to work.

  • Identify the appropriate time to begin the interactive process.

  • Open a file and maintain accurate and detailed documentation and provide overall management of the return to work process under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

  • Participates in the employee wellness program by conducting educational seminars or participating in health screenings as necessary.

  • Identifies and reports unusual employee health issues/trends to Infection Control or appropriate area.

  • Serves as a member of the Infection Control Committee and/or related Employee Health committees as assigned.

  • Participates in education in service programs and maintains professional expertise through appropriate education/organization activities.

  • Demonstrates and actively promotes an understanding and commitment to the mission of St. Joseph Mercy Oakland through performing behaviors consistent with the Trinity Health Values.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations, the Trinity Health Organizational Integrity Program, including the Standards of Conduct, Code of Ethics, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behaviors.

  • Identifies and assists in resolution of problems related to safety, sanitation and maintenance of the environment.

  • Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships.  Approaches conflict in a constructive manner.  Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participates in their resolution.

  • Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, employees, and visitors to St. Joseph Mercy Oakland/Trinity Health.  Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.

Requires Possession of a certificate from a practical nursing education program accepted for licensure by the Michigan Board of Nursing

Certification/Licensure:  Requires current and active license to practice as LPN in State of Michigan.  Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).
