About you and this role
Dow has exciting job opportunities for Logistics Technicians at the Bayport facility located in La Porte, Texas.
Dow is looking for top-caliber, technically capable Logistics Technicians who embrace change, adapt fast, make decisions quickly, possess self-confidence and are lifelong learners. These positions require a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship.
Responsibilities
Performs routine operation of basic control systems and devices to monitor levels, temperatures, pressures and flow rates and transfer of products.
Lift hoses, bolt flanges and operate valves and similar equipment including the proper clearing and isolation of equipment.
Follow operating discipline, procedures and practices to ensure a safe and efficient operation of assigned duties.
Control, monitor and make necessary adjustments on control systems and manually operated equipment.
Maintain safe and organized warehouses and truck staging areas
Operates process equipment including drumming activities, loading/offloading of tank wagons and railcars.
Safe operation of mobile equipment including forklifts, track mobiles and yard mules.
Perform activities such as railroad switching, moving rail cars, spotting cars/trucks for load/offload activities.
Maintain accurate logs, records, reports and inspection checklists.
Troubleshoot process, product quality, safety, and environmental problems and identify equipment requiring maintenance.
Prepare equipment for maintenance, Issue Safe Work Permits and monitor daily maintenance work
Ensure safe and efficient performance of maintenance and project work.
Act as a resource for other Technicians on job tasks and prioritization of work activities.
Take ownership for the accurate completion of all assigned tasks.
Can certify on other plant certifications as required.
Participate in site Emergency Response Team, if required
Complete all duties as assigned with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship.
Execute EHS Standards and Operating Disciplines with a high degree of ownership and excellence
Qualifications
A minimum of a High School diploma or GED is required.
Able to meet physical requirements for the emergency response team. Willing to join Houston Hub Emergency Response Team.
Must be able to work a rotating shift schedule including nights, weekends, overtime and holidays as required.
Current, valid US driver’s license.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's degree or higher plus a Process Technology Certification
3 or more years of Military experience with a technical specialty in lieu of a degree.
Experience in logistics activities including offloading/loading chemical tank wagons, drumming, track mobile/railcar operation and warehouse operations.

Emergency Procedures: An emergency procedure is a plan of actions to be conducted in a certain order or manner, in response to a specific class of reasonably foreseeable emergency, a situation that poses an immediate risk to health, life, property, or the environment. Where a range of emergencies are reasonably foreseeable, an emergency plan may be drawn up to manage each threat.
Chemical Processes: A chemical process is a method or means of somehow changing one or more chemicals or chemical compounds. Such a chemical process can occur by itself or be caused by an outside force and involves a chemical reaction of some sort.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): PPE refers to clothing and gear worn to reduce exposure to workplace hazards. This includes items like gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, ear protection, and protective footwear. PPE helps protect employees from injuries related to chemicals, heat, noise, sharp objects, and other risks commonly found in manufacturing environments. Employees are expected to wear appropriate PPE as required, maintain it properly, and follow safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
Risk Awareness: Risk awareness is the raising of understanding of what risks exist, their potential impacts, and how they are managed.
Mechanical Principles: Mechanical reasoning can be broadly defined as the ability to perceive and understand relationships between components within a mechanism.
Chemical Hazards: A chemical hazard is a type of occupational hazard caused by exposure to chemicals in the workplace. Exposure to chemicals in the workplace can cause acute or long-term detrimental health effects. There are many types of hazardous chemicals, including neurotoxins, immune agents, dermatologic agents, carcinogens, reproductive toxins, systemic toxins, asthmagens, pneumoconiotic agents, and sensitizers. These hazards can cause physical and/or health risks.
System Procedures: System procedures refer to a system as a network of procedures which are integrated and designed to carry out the major activity. It consists of a set of processes, and each process constitutes detailed methods, procedures, and routines which are required to carry out a specific activity, perform a duty, or solve a problem.

Meet physical requirements for the emergency response team.

Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.
This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground.
Required to drive a fork truck, track mobile and yard mule.
