Role reports to the Breinigsville, PA site and reports to the Clinical Trials Division (CTD). CTD partners with pharmaceutical and biotech customers around the world to ensure the right patients get the right therapies in the right doses at the right time – a concept that we internally embrace as “There is a Patient Waiting.” Our outstanding blend of services includes project management, packaging, distribution, transportation management and specialty logistics, ancillary supply management, clinical supply optimization, bio-repository storage and much more. As a Logistics Specialist II, you'll help ensure seamless coordination of supply chain operations while delivering exceptional service to internal and external customers. Working with cross-functional teams, you'll manage critical logistics processes including shipment coordination, customs compliance, inventory management, and vendor relationships. Your attention to detail and problem-solving skills will be essential in optimizing logistics efficiency while maintaining quality and regulatory standards.
Understand and interpret Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to Import/Export operations.
Liaise with customers, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and carriers to resolve documentation or system issues.
Communicate with suppliers to ensure adherence to import requirements.
Ensure compliance with the regulations outlined in the Global Trade Compliance Policy for import and export control procedures.
Preparing and maintaining accurate customs documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, export submissions, admissions, status changes, entries).
Review and verify assigned HTS tariff classifications for regularly import and export items, questioning discrepancies as needed.
Review and confirm the accuracy of declared customs values, escalating or challenging valuation issues when appropriate, and maintain required import and export records.
Screen proposed transactions and detail the screening as evidence of due diligence.
Perform export submissions as required, ensuring adherence to all applicable export control and trade compliance regulations.
Respond to emails and inquiries related to Export and Import services.
Work with project managers and clients to troubleshoot issues.
Interact effectively with multiple functional areas including management, supply chain, distribution, engineering, finance, IT, and legal.
Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.Preferred Fields of Study: Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
2 years Logistic work experience in a multi-regional environment.
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., IATA, Customs Broker) preferred.
Experience with temperature-controlled and regulated shipments preferred.
Experience with logistics KPIs and metrics tracking.
Proficient in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel is desired
Strong knowledge of international trade compliance, customs regulations, and shipping documentation
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication abilities in English; additional languages a plus
Knowledge of GMP, GDP, and other relevant quality standards
Demonstrated experience in process improvement and cost optimization
Ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in documentation
