Logistics Specialist I - Inventory (Contract)

As a Logistics Specialist I, you will support the coordination and execution of logistics activities, including the preparation and documentation of materials, spares, tools, and equipment for deployment and storage. You will ensure that shipping logistics comply with state, federal, and global regulations and assist in maintaining accurate records of all logistics activities.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.

This is a 3‑month contract role primarily supporting inventory management. The ideal candidate will excel in attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency when working with inventory systems and processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and documentation of logistics materials, including spares, tools, and equipment, with a strong focus on accurate inventory management.
  • Coordinate and track the shipping and routing of materials, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain precise records of equipment, components, repair parts, and related manuals.
  • Support the allocation, organization, and upkeep of storage areas used for inventory and logistics materials.
  • Assist in the documentation and compliance with import/export requirements.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery and availability of materials.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 0–1 year of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Higher-level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Basic knowledge of state, federal, and global regulations related to logistics.
  • Basic Microsoft Word and Excel skills.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accuracy in all inventory‑related tasks.
  • Experience working directly with inventory systems, cycle counts, or material tracking processes.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and tools.
  • Exposure to inventory databases.
  • Familiarity with Inventory and Supply Chain/Logistics principles and techniques.
  • Familiarity with AvPro or similar aviation maintenance tracking systems.
  • HazMat Training/Certification.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Experience with shipping databases such as FedEx, DHL, UPS.
  • Understanding of shelf life.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the U.S. Department of Defense, or U.S. Military.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to work on your feet for a majority of the work shift.
  • Ability to work in a loud environment.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to work in an office or hybrid environment.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $19.95 - $27.44. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants.
