The Opportunity 

We’re hiring a Logistics Planner within our Abbott Rapid Diagnostics Division, headquartered in Lake Forest, IL.

In this role, you’ll support transportation supply chain processes that ensure on-time delivery and operational efficiency. You’ll manage freight scheduling and daily tactical planning for truckload shipments across suppliers, manufacturing sites, and warehouses. Your work will directly impact customer satisfaction and compliance with FDA, OSHA, and Abbott standards.

What You’ll Do

  • Schedule and plan freight movements, including supplier-to-plant, plant-to-warehouse, and warehouse-to-warehouse transfers.
  • Communicate with carriers and internal teams to ensure on-time delivery and resolve issues that may impact customer commitments.
  • Maintain routing guide compliance and track inventory movements using SharePoint and Excel.
  • Review Advanced Shipping Notifications (ASNs) for accuracy and update tracking files.
  • Create and manage transfer orders for inventory between warehouse locations.
  • Support transportation operational strategies while meeting cost and service goals.
  • Participate in daily calls with warehouse teams and carrier meetings to align on scheduling and performance.
  • Monitor carrier performance and provide feedback to improve service levels.
  • Apply attention to detail in maintaining logistics tracking files and cost/performance metrics.
  • Identify and execute process improvement initiatives and support root cause analysis for delivery issues.
  • Document transportation procedures and assist with departmental projects as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in transportation or logistics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
  • Experience with SAP or similar systems.
Preferred:
  • APICS CSCP certification.
  • Exposure to global logistics operations and compliance standards.

The base pay for this position is

$61,300.00 – $122,700.00
