Job Summary: This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command.

Major Duties:

  • As a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST at the GS-0346-14 some of your typical work assignments may include: Makes recommendations to USTRANSCOM's leadership on logistics, transportation, and distribution processes. Researches and analyzes public laws, rules and other regulatory documents to establish/change joint logistics Command Strategy. Keeps informed of key changes in future transportation/logistics strategic environment through intelligence, logistics reports, periodicals, and current geopolitical and global trends. Interacts with other Unified, Specified, Subordinate and Component Commands, other federal agencies and commercial transportation entities to inform objectives for USTC strategic guidance. Assists leadership in overseeing the development of joint concepts to facilitate transportation/logistics operations within the Defense Transportation System (DTS). Engage in early War Game planning processes to ensure that USTRANSCOM equities are addressed in the wargame objectives and to ensure that gaming assumptions include accurate logistics processes and procedures.

Qualifications: You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service: Serving as a senior advisor on the development and refinement of long-range transportation and logistics strategies supporting the Defense Transportation System (DTS) and the Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise (JDDE). Incorporating logistics requirements and concepts applicable to air, sea, and surface transportation in program plans, policies, and funding. Articulating processes, programs, procedures, and policy positions clearly and concisely in written and oral communication to senior leaders at the GO/FO/SES level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
