Job Summary: THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION DUTY LOCATION: Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF), Windsor Locks, CT AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the Connecticut Army National Guard. Area 2: All currently employed full-time temporary technician personnel and all current traditional members of the Connecticut Army National Guard.

Major Duties:

  • Position to be filled upon the vacancy of the incumbent. JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to manage, plan, organize, and direct AASF logistics operations in support of AASF and supported aviation unit training and flight operations. The Aviation Logistics Management Officer (ALMO) provides logistical support to, and partners with, the AASF Commander, Flight Operations, Safety, Quality Assurance, and supported unit commanders in planning, scheduling, and implementing a comprehensive flying program. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Army National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to: Collaborates with the AASF Commander, AASF staff, and supported unit commanders to plan, develop, and implement long and short term plans to effectively use aircraft and flying hours, and to accomplish vital training and operational missions. Reviews and evaluates higher-level headquarters' directives and policies for AASF implementation. Through subordinate supervisors, directs staff and production functions related to aircraft maintenance, production support, material services, ground support, and facility services. Performs MTFs to determine airworthiness of aircraft supported by AASF. Consults with supported unit commanders in planning and executing training or contingency exercises involving individual or multiple units in support of unit readiness.

Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training involving judgment and/or analytical ability in the logistics field. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 36 months of specialized experience in the following: Experience, education, or training identifying activities involving logistical support operations. Experience integrating the actions of a variety of specialized support activities in order to develop a comprehensive logistics plan. Experience monitoring such functions as program planning, resource and fiscal management, training, manpower management, and/or automated data processing to meet the logistics plan. Experience identifying delays or problems and developing corrective actions. Experience working with people from various levels and backgrounds to elicit their cooperation to perform specific tasks, and complying with regulations, laws, or practices. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the organization and functions of areas involved in providing logistical support. Skill in integration the actions of two or more specialized support activities for the purpose of meeting program goals. Ability to monitor such functions as program planning, resource and fiscal management, training, manpower management, and/or automated data processing to meet the logistics plan and identify delays or problems. Skill in working with persons at various levels and background. COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applications will be considered regardless of Branch/AOC/FA/MOS. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to compatible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technician school training. MILITARY GRADE (Prior to Application): Warrant: CW4 through CW5 UNIT OF ASSIGNMENT: Any aviation unit within the state SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a security clearance (secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Training at the National Guard Professional Education Center (NGPEC) is a mandatory condition of employment, subject to availability of resources. NGB prescribed courses at NGPEC must be completed within 6 months of assignment to this position. Failure to complete course(s) may result in reassignment or termination of full-time employment unless extenuating circumstances preclude course attendance.
