The Logistic Engineer plays a critical role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of logistics operations. This includes leading continuous improvement initiatives, analysing key performance metrics, and collaborating with internal teams and 4PL providers. The position focuses on driving process optimizations in inbound logistics, supplier collaborations, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.

 

Key Accountabilities

Monozukuri Exercises and Improvement Plans:

   - Lead Monozukuri exercises to develop improvement strategies, action plans, and sustainability roadmaps aimed at enhancing logistics efficiency and effectiveness.

   - Identify areas of improvement and create actionable plans to optimize inbound logistics processes and reduce operational waste while maintaining compliance with Good Distribution Practices (GDP).

 

Data Analysis and KPI Monitoring:

   - Analyze KPIs and metrics related to inbound logistics, external suppliers, and Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs).

   - Identify trends, performance gaps, and new improvement opportunities by analyzing logistics data and collaborating with internal stakeholders.

   - Proactively address performance issues through targeted interventions.

  

Change Management and Stakeholder Engagement:

   - Lead change initiatives aimed at improving inbound logistics performance, including engaging with stakeholders, providing training, and ensuring effective communication to support implementation.

   - Manage the roll-out of process improvements across the organization, ensuring teams are aligned and equipped to adopt new practices.

 

Collaboration with 4PL Provider:

   - Collaborate with internal teams and the 4PL provider to design and implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational excellence.

   - Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless execution of logistics improvements, enhancing overall supply chain performance.

 

Process Improvement in 4PL Operations:

   - Identify and implement process improvements within the 4PL operations to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality.

   - Develop and maintain best practices for 4PL management to ensure that the logistics provider consistently meets operational goals.

Performance Monitoring and Audits:

   - Monitor performance metrics regularly, conducting audits to ensure ongoing compliance with internal and external best practices.

   - Drive a culture of continuous improvement within logistics operations by leveraging data insights, monitoring KPIs for transport efficiency, and conducting thorough performance evaluations.

 

 

About you

  

Skills/Expertise/Experience:

 

  • 8+ years of experience in logistics engineering, supply chain optimization, or operational improvement roles.
  •  Expertise in logistics data analysis, KPI tracking, and identifying performance trends.
  •  Strong understanding of global transportation challenges, including regulations, customs and international trade laws.
  •  Proven ability to lead change management initiatives and engage multiple stakeholders, with a focus on continuous improvement and optimization in cost, service levels and operational efficiency.
  •  Experience in managing relationships with 4PL providers and third-party logistics providers with a focus on performance management and service optimization.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies, such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Monozukuri.

 

 

Preferred Skills/Expertise/Experience:

 

  • Advanced Education: An MBA or master’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.  
  •  Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, particularly in logistics.
  •  Proficiency with logistics management software and analytics tools (e.g., SAP, TMS, Power BI).
  •  Prior experience in logistics sustainability is a strong asset.
  •  Knowledge of international logistics regulations and industry standards.
  •  Certifications in continuous improvement methodologies are a plus.
