Logistics Coordinator

Location: Macclesfield, UK

AstraZeneca’s Clinical Manufacturing & Supply (CM&S) organisation plays a vital role in delivering medicines to patients participating in our global clinical trials. CM&S is responsible for the end‑to‑end supply of products — from planning and drug substance manufacture through to drug product, packaging, distribution and delivery to depots and investigator sites.

Within CM&S, the Clinical Logistics team ensures that all distribution and logistics requirements are met across our global clinical supply chains. We are now seeking a Clinical Logistics Coordinator to support delivery and contribute to the continuous improvement of our clinical distribution network.

About the Role

As part of the Clinical Logistics team, you will support task‑based activities across the clinical supply chain, ensuring shipments are delivered efficiently, compliantly and on time. You will work closely with internal teams and external logistics partners to maintain high operational performance and support the delivery of AstraZeneca’s clinical distribution strategy.

This role operates in full compliance with SHE and GXP standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support achievement of logistics lead times, First Subject In (FSI) and Right‑First‑Time targets.
  • Provide dedicated logistics support for assigned clinical studies.
  • Liaise with external logistics partners to ensure timely and accurate execution of shipments.
  • Ensure all required import/export documentation is prepared and provided.
  • Handle and respond to queries received via the Logistics mailbox.
  • Contribute to operational performance monitoring and support improvement initiatives, including ownership of smaller projects.
  • Support the development and maintenance of processes, tools, templates, guidance and training materials.
  • Act as a key contact for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build personal expertise and knowledge within clinical logistics.
  • Support the Senior Director, Clinical Logistics, in delivering the overall clinical distribution strategy.

Essential Requirements

  • Education aligned to CV (e.g., supply chain, logistics, business or related field).
  • Experience in a supply chain or logistics environment.
  • Desire to grow and develop within the logistics area of the clinical supply chain.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Clear and confident communication skills; able to identify and communicate key issues.
  • Proficient English.

Desirable Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or a related field.
  • Experience with Lean tools and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with the pharmaceutical or clinical supply chain environment.
  • Solid understanding of the logistics industry, including relevant government agencies and regulatory requirements for product distribution.
