Your responsibilities

As Operational Risk & Control Expert you are the linking pin between the central and local risk management functions, providing effective, independent oversight and monitoring of non-financial risks. This for Belgium as well as Luxembourg. The Operational Risk Team coordinates the risk management control activities, assesses potential risks and reports all operational and business risks to enable the Executive Board to monitor their overall risk profile so that risk triggers and limits are identified at an early stage and suitable countermeasures could be taken.

A more concrete view on your responsibilities as Risk & Control Expert:

  • Collaborate with all departments and teams involved in controlling and monitoring operational risks, and report to the central Operational Risks team.
  • Identify, measure, and report on operational risks within the entities' Risk framework. Review and provide opinions in periodic reports and ad-hoc requests.
  • Contribute to the overall control of operational risks by monitoring the effectiveness of LOD1 controls and related corrective action plans.
  • Oversee the adaptation of central policies and procedures to local regulations and monitor the implementation of Ayvens’ Operational Risk framework locally.
  • Challenge and guide relevant stakeholders on topics related to operational risks to create awareness and a sense of responsibility among risk owners in the business.
  • Support the implementation of the Operational Risks framework designed by central LOD2.
  • Propose solutions and improvements to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Who are we looking for?

  • 3 to 6 years of experience in a comparable role in the financial services sector.
  • Relevant university degree (Bachelor/Master's level) in business or a technology-related field.
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong understanding of the full scope of risk management practices and techniques, including experience in developing and implementing risk policies.
  • Expertise in Operational Risk Management, Internal Control, and Internal Governance.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations (EBA) and interaction with ECB and local regulators.
  • Project management skills.
  • Fluent in English (both verbally and written) and French. Besides that a good knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
