Position Summary / Career Interest:

Lobby Associates play a pivotal role in providing a safe patient care environment for patients and guests and a safe working environment for employees as well. Ensures patients and guests are greeted properly when entering the hospital. Monitors the cleanliness and orderliness of front lobby; resolves directly any simple issues and reports all other issues to the EVS Staff for prompt resolution. Oversees passenger loading and unloading. Ensures wheelchair accessibility for patients if needed.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

  • Maintains a safe working environment at the entrance to the hospital and knows hospital emergency numbers, initiates calls to report spills or other unsafe conditions that require immediate attention, and ensures staff report all unusual occurrences in a timely manner.
  • Presents a neat and clean appearance, appropriate for a professional health care environment in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Demonstrates and maintains a high level of professionalism at all times.
  • Ensures arriving patients and guests are greeted by the Lobby Associate in a courteous, helpful manner.
  • Enforces occupancy restrictions and guidelines as needed; for example personal protective equipment and cleaning.
  • Conducts Safety Checks – Ability to follow established safety policy and procedures and identifies and corrects conditions that affect safety in the workplace.
  • Effectively solves problems and communicates; follows up satisfactorily on internal and
  • external customer concerns.
  • Organizes, oversees, and leads work efforts (as appropriate) to ensure the best possible
  • delivery of service and high customer and patient satisfaction. Takes initiative, stays productive, looks for patients to assist/transport, access patient readiness and equipment needs.
  • Serves as a personal escort to the destination as needed and available
  • Assist guests with wheelchairs and transport to the destination as needed and available.
  • Informs appropriate areas (i.e., Perioperative and Procedural areas, Inpatient Unit, Ambulatory Departments) of urgent care or specials needs of patients.
  • Assists Information Desk with directing and instructing patients and visitors to various offices, clinical and procedural areas.
  • Maintains a patient-centered focus and strives to support the mission, goals, and values of the hospital, department, and division.
  • Performs daily work assignments in an efficient, organized manner and with an optimum degree of accuracy.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions promptly and marks equipment appropriately and delivers equipment to Biomed if needed.
  • Works with other departments when needed to provide positive patient and family experiences
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Attends annual refresher and as needed training for demonstrating competency of all equipment used during the transportation of patients
  • Capability to effectively operate the following equipment while safely transporting patients:
  • Wheelchair – Feet, Leg Rests, Arm Rests and Brakes. Stretcher/Gurney – Raise, Lower, Raise Head Area, Steer Mode, Neutral and Brakes Total Lift Chair – Raise, Lower, Raise as Chair, Footrests, Transfer Crank and Breaks. Slide-Board – Transfer of Patient. O2-Oxygen Tank – Tank, Regulator, Valves, O2 Carrier, and exchange of tanks.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • 1 or more years of experience as a hospital orderly.


Required Licensure and Certification

  • CPR/ AED/ BLS - Other BLS must be completed within 30 days of hire.
