Primary Function:

The Litigation Intake Specialist plays a crucial role in our legal team and is responsible for assisting with the initial intake of potential litigation cases. The Litigation Intake Specialist will also assist the Subpoena Department by helping to ensure subpoena responses are completed timely and accurately.

Principal Duties:

  • Assist in file opening, which will include escalation review from other departments, service of process, general mail, etc. to determine whether our department will take over management of the litigation. 
  • Support the Subpoena team by gathering documents responsive to subpoena requests to ensure accuracy of content to produce the requested information. 
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive client information and legal matters.
  • Manage intake databases or software systems to track and manage case intake and status.
  • Collaborate with other administrative staff to ensure seamless transition of cases from intake to legal representation.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience:

Required education and experience.

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field preferred.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in a legal intake role or similar position within a law firm or legal department.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Required knowledge, skills, and ability.

  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology and procedures related to litigation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with other departments and outside counsel.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in Consumer Finance and/or Mortgage Servicing and/or Litigation background with a working knowledge of how to interpret pleadings, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
