The department delivers a server platform solution for the ASTRO 25, the most widely used P25 mission-critical voice and data communication network in the world.


Job Description

We are looking for professionals who will join our Astro Virtual Platform team. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Linux platform that is the foundation of MSI’s Astro technology products. The responsibilities include developing low-level design, implementing features based on requirements, designing and implementing functional and performance tests, contributing to the creation of user manuals, functional testing (manual and automated), and participation in system integration tests. The project scope includes automation of the platform's installation, upgrades, configuration, and hardening. The project uses Agile methodologies.


Basic Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with scripting and automation tools, such as Bash/shell scripts, Python, Ansible, or other similar tools/languages

  • 1+ years of experience in operating systems and virtualization/hypervisor development (RedHat, KVM)

  • Experience with automation of Linux system installations (Kickstart/Anaconda)

  • Linux development experience, including systemd services, logging configuration, and access controls

  • Experience in operating systems internals (e.g., memory management & task scheduling, interrupts, device drivers)

  • Experience with GIT and JIRA

  • Experience with CI/CD and DevSecOps tools and processes (GitHub, Artifactory)

  • Attention to detail

  • Good analytical skills

  • Ability to work efficiently in an international team

  • English language skills at a level allowing efficient communication

Any of the following is an advantage:

  • Experience with the creation of automation for virtual machine deployment, configuration, and patching (Ansible preferred)

  • Experience with Server hardware administration and configuration

  • Good understanding of system security aspects

  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, network protocols, and services

  • Degree in computer science, telecommunications, automatics, robotics, or similar

  • RHCSA, RHCE, and CCNA certificates
