Lifeguard

OCONUS-Philippines Full time

The Lifeguard is primarily responsible for maintaining order and enforcing the pool’s facility rules and regulations.

Principal Accountabilities

(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)

  • Provide lifeguard services to operate swimming pools with bath houses.
  • Follow and enforce all facility rules, regulations and safety procedures, and establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Deal tactfully and courteously with customers and provide the highest quality customer service.
  • Observe swimming area to ensure safety of customers. Perform water rescue, standard first aid and CPR procedures and techniques.
  • Ensure the swimming area is open to customers at scheduled times and that only authorized persons are admitted to the area.
  • Warn swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions and recommend closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail.
  • Conduct the proper maintenance and sanitation of the facility. Clean and sanitize main pools, pool decks, and sunbathing areas. Ensure locker rooms are cleaned and health and sanitation standards are maintained.
  • Check chemical levels and maintain a control log of water chlorine and pH levels.
  • Issue equipment as directed or needed as required, and supervise the proper use of equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure that lifesaving equipment is conspicuously displayed and strategically located around the pool deck or at lifeguard chairs. The equipment shall be readily accessible, kept in good repair and the function of each item marked.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Advanced skill in swimming and water rescue techniques, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, and the ability to administer medical aid and rescue swimmers in distress.
  • Working knowledge of the regulations and rules of play regarding all activities and tournaments hosted within the facilities. Ability to answer all customer inquiries regarding the same.
  • Ability to manage the pool general appearance and cleanliness while providing continual lifeguard supervision and duties.
  • Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment.

Experience & Education

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience as a Lifeguard.
  • Possess an American Red Cross CPR Certificate, an American Red Cross Standard First Aid certificates or local equivalent certifications (as approved by the ACO), and Automated External Defibrillator Certificate. Certificates are required to be current at all times.
  • Additional experience/education may be required by contract or assignment.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.

Travel

Ability to travel domestically and internationally
