Job Summary: Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Acquisition, Logistics and Sustainment Division, located in Washington, DC. Major Duties:

  • Joining Customs & Border Protection (CBP) will allow you to utilize your expertise to provide guidance, coordination, management, and planning for acquiring or procuring logistics and sustainment support for operational users across the CBP enterprise. This position starts at a salary of $143,913.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $187,093.00 (GS-14, Step 10). Apply for this exciting opportunity to strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security functions by serving as a logistics management specialist supporting Enterprise Logistics Life Cycle Management (ELLCM) and Cost Wise Readiness (CWR) initiatives. In this Life Cycle Logistician position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals involved in coordinating and integrating sustainment planning, sustainment engineering, modification program management, program control, analytical studies, logistic and maintenance efforts; performing varied duties that require resolving difficult and complex problems in logistics programs; project studies and/ or other assignments requiring analyses of interrelated issues of effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of substantive logistics programs; developing detailed plans, goals, and objectives; evaluation of long-range implementation of logistics programs and activities; critical decisions about how to proceed in planning, organizing, and conducting product support; and performing in-depth analyses, extensive coordination, and intensive negotiations with different high-level officials. Typical Work assignments include: Plan and manage cost and performance across the product support value chain, from design through disposal. Identify, plan for, resource, and implement management actions to acquire repair parts, spares, and all classes of supply to ensure the best equipment/capability is available to support CBP requirements. Identify, plan, resource, and acquire packaging/preservation, handling, storage and transportation (PHS&T) requirements to maximize availability and usability of the materiel to include support items whenever they are needed for training or mission. Identify, plan, resource, and implement maintenance concepts and requirements to ensure the best possible equipment/capability is available to meet CBP requirements at the lowest possible Total Ownership Cost (TOC). Participate in and leverage the systems engineering process to impact the design from its inception throughout the life cycle, facilitating supportability to maximize the availability, effectiveness and capability systems at the lowest Total Ownership Cost (TOC).

Qualifications: Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Applied a variety of qualitative and quantitative analytical methods to assess logistics support strategies, evaluate program performance metrics, and recommend improvements to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of acquisition and sustainment activities across organizational components. Utilized Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) principles to plan and coordinate logistics activities, including the acquisition of repair parts, maintenance resources, and supply chain elements, ensuring effective supportability and operational readiness for assigned programs. Assisted in developing and updating life cycle sustainment plans, ensuring logistics support requirements and resource allocations were aligned with program objectives throughout all phases of system operation. Supported the development and implementation of Life Cycle Logistics plans by identifying logistics requirements, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring integration of support strategies across all phases of system acquisition and sustainment.
