The Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia, is recruiting for a full-time, on-site outpatient psychologist with our Complex Concussion Clinic. The Complex Concussion Clinic (CCC) provides comprehensive, interdisciplinary team care for adolescents and adults with mild traumatic brain injuries (TBI) or concussions.

The CCC patient population includes athletes at all levels of play and the CCC is partnered with university and professional athletics organizations. Patient goals might include returning to work, school, or play with improved functioning and reduced symptoms. Our holistic treatment model integrates medical, physical, cognitive, psychological, spiritual, and community reintegration services to help patients and families improve functioning and quality of life. Care is streamlined by offering all services in one location equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

The psychologist for this position will join a truly interdisciplinary care team, as well as a large department of mental health providers with specialties in clinical psychology, neuropsychology, addiction, pain management, and rehabilitation psychology.

Primary responsibilities for this position include active interdisciplinary team participation and providing rehabilitative psychology services for concussion patients and their care partners. Servies may include but are not limited to individual, group, and family therapy/interventions; assessments; consultations; education; and delivering clinical feedback to support recovery. Physical and psychological recovery topics may include functional challenges; anxiety and depression; mood changes; sleep disturbances; sensory overload; substance misuse; or identity/role changes.

Qualifications:

  • PhD or PsyD from an APA/CPA-approved doctoral program in psychology.
  • APA-accredited internship completion.
  • 1 or 2-year postdoctoral training in rehabilitation, health, or sports psychology, or +2 years’ licensed work experience with relevant patient populations.
  • Experience working in medical, sports, university, or military settings and interdisciplinary treatment teams is preferred.
  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist (or eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia, if licensed in another state). 
  • Board certified or eligible for board certification in rehabilitation, health, sports, or clinical psychology is a plus.
