Fully participates and engages in the Department of Psychiatry’s Masters level Clinician Residency Program.
Follows the detailed program manual and completes competencies.
Engages in clinical service delivery, supervision, training, and indirect clinical work.
Participates in direct one on one supervision as required with their certified licensed Behavioral Health Clinician supervisor.
Provides initial evaluations and individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy to patients in conjunction with care provided by department psychiatrist, physicians, psychologists, and APPs.
Develops clinical treatment plans with patient (and when applicable) family input, understanding and agreement toward clearly stated goals.
Utilizes the most current diagnostic and statistics manual for mental health disorders to provide accurate diagnosis.
Completes clinical documentation, noting progress toward treatment goals following each patient encounter.
Maintains compliance with all VCHUS/MCVP policies and procedures governing clinical care delivery and documentation.
Collaborates as part of an interdisciplinary team to meet the needs of the patients served.
Facilities patient referrals to other departmental resources or to community resources as appropriate.
Performs other duties as assigned and/or participates in special projects in order to support organizational missions.
Patient Population: Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide equitable care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit. Demonstrates knowledge and related competencies of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age, specific needs and to provide the equitable care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures. Pediatrics (1-12 years), Adolescents (13-17 years), Adults (18-64 years), Geriatrics (65 years and older).
Employment Qualifications
Required Education: Master’s Degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, or related field from an accredited college or university with a clinical course of study from the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) or Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accredited program

Licensing/ Certification
Licensure/Certification Required: Eligible to register with and be approved by the Department of Health Professions Virginia Board of Counseling or Virginia Board of Social Work Supervision Licensing Program. Must register within 30 days of position being offered and accepted.

Minimum Qualifications
Years and Type of Required Experience: Completion of a supervised internship of at least 600 hours to include 240 hours of face-to-face clinical contact.

Must be able to independently evaluate patients, formulate an accurate differential diagnosis, develop, and implement an appropriate course of treatment.
