The Library Circulation Representative handles the day-to-day operations of materials caring for the systems as well as assisting patrons with checking items out, processing material returns, and conducting all transactions.

Overview

The Library Circulation Representative performs administrative, clerical, and account coordination tasks for the library and its patrons. Provides exceptional customer service, accounts coordination, cash handling, and supporting general circulation activities.

Essential Functions

1.    Welcomes and assists patrons by answering questions, giving directions, referring patrons to librarians for additional assistance.

2.    Guides customers through self-check process, helps with checkout and check in materials.

3.    Answers phones and assists customers with general questions or refers to a librarian.

4.    Issues library cards.

5.    Resolves library account issues.

6.    Empties return bins, checks in returned materials, sorts and shelves library materials.

7.    Collects and records payments; balances cash drawer and processes invoices; balances daily copy machine cash.

8.    Pulls unclaimed requests list, processes RTF lists, searches for claimed returns, lost and transferred record sets daily.

9.    May assist with any weeding and collection maintenance projects as assigned.

10.  May assist with limited programs as assigned.

11.  Monitors office supplies, creates order forms and, once approved, places order.

12.  Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

1. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a diverse community.
2. Ability to troubleshoot simple technology issues on public computers.
3. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, push a book truck, bend and grasp materials as well as walk outside in a variety of weather conditions multiple times a day.
4. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.

Experience

Two (2) years of customer service or library experience.

Licenses and Certifications

None

Education

High School Diploma or GED.

Salary Range
 

$21.50 - $22.33

The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
